We stayed for our Wedding Anniversary in November 2011, as we wanted to stay somewhere small and unique and this hotel was recommended by a friend.
The hotel itself is beautiful, and I can see why so many people choose this as a wedding venue. It is in a very quiet area, surrounded by well kept gardens. The staff were extremely polite and helpful, and I was impressed that we aere shown to our room rather than just being left to get on with it like so many other hotels. Our room was just gorgeous, very spacious, a huge bed (so big I couldnt help wondering where they got bedding for it ;) and a very large bathroom with a walk in shower, double sinks and a free standing bath. We had booked a Deluxe Room and this is exactly what we got, everything we had been told to expect.
We had dinner at the hotel, and the food was very good. I wouldn't say it was outstanding, but it was definately delicious and well cooked.
Breakfast was a bit of a solitary affair, which was disappointing given the high standards provided for everything else in the hotel. Because the hotel appears to be very much geared for weddings, the main restaurant area was already decorated and set up for a wedding that day, so any hotel guests were guided to breakfast in another room in the hotel. There wasn't a member of staff permanently assigned to the room so we had to wait for someone to appear to order hot drinks and then another wait to order breakfast. The food was lovely. The hotel could consider improving the attention given to other guests on days when they have a wedding, it costs quite a lot to stay at the hotel and I would expect to have better service at breakfast rather than feeling 'sidelined'.
Other than that, a lovely hotel and we would consider staying here again or coming to the restaurant for dinner with freinds.
