“Comfortable Quiet Hotel, A Cut Above”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

An excellent hotel set in a quiet town setting with efficient helpful staff, excellent quality rooms with superb en-suite facilities. We were there for a wedding, took over the whole hotel, and has the Sir Joshua Reynolds room which boasted the largest bed I have ever slept in. It over looked the side garden with a loverly woody view. Very peaceful expensive but worth a visit.

“Simply Perfect - And amazing staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We had our wedding at SEH in November 2011 and it really could not have been better. Attentive, interested and polite staff throughout; now owned by a wonderful family who really go the extra mile for you at all times. Rooms were simply beautiful with all little details fantastic, food is amazing, bar is full of character with good wine list and excellent choice of spirits. Decor is fab, English breakfast was also lovely.
Away from wedding we have also been for lunch and dinner and found both to be amazing and extremely good value.
I cannot heap enough praise on this place; I would recommend to families, couples of all ages and work parties for lunch, dinner or overnight breaks.

Room Tip: They are all uber luxurious but the St Elizabeth suite has the wow factor

“Lovely Hotel”

We stayed for our Wedding Anniversary in November 2011, as we wanted to stay somewhere small and unique and this hotel was recommended by a friend.

The hotel itself is beautiful, and I can see why so many people choose this as a wedding venue. It is in a very quiet area, surrounded by well kept gardens. The staff were extremely polite and helpful, and I was impressed that we aere shown to our room rather than just being left to get on with it like so many other hotels. Our room was just gorgeous, very spacious, a huge bed (so big I couldnt help wondering where they got bedding for it ;) and a very large bathroom with a walk in shower, double sinks and a free standing bath. We had booked a Deluxe Room and this is exactly what we got, everything we had been told to expect.

We had dinner at the hotel, and the food was very good. I wouldn't say it was outstanding, but it was definately delicious and well cooked.

Breakfast was a bit of a solitary affair, which was disappointing given the high standards provided for everything else in the hotel. Because the hotel appears to be very much geared for weddings, the main restaurant area was already decorated and set up for a wedding that day, so any hotel guests were guided to breakfast in another room in the hotel. There wasn't a member of staff permanently assigned to the room so we had to wait for someone to appear to order hot drinks and then another wait to order breakfast. The food was lovely. The hotel could consider improving the attention given to other guests on days when they have a wedding, it costs quite a lot to stay at the hotel and I would expect to have better service at breakfast rather than feeling 'sidelined'.

Other than that, a lovely hotel and we would consider staying here again or coming to the restaurant for dinner with freinds.

“You will have a hard job finding a better hotel! AMAZING!”

My wife and I got married here in November 2011 and I can only say positive things about this hotel. It's location is ideal in a quiet area of Plympton in Plymouth. It is a family run business and the staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. The food is exceptional and we have visited several times for family birthday meals. As we got married at St Elizabeths we rented all of the hotel bedrooms and all of the ones I looked in were of a very high standard. The honeymoon suite is out of this world! The surrounding gardens and outside seating area are very well looked after as well. Overall it is an excellent hotel and restaurant which I would thoroughly recommend. If you are thinking of getting married in the Plymouth area you will struggle to find a better venue. The lady that organizes weddings at the hotel was excellent and very helpful. The hotel is proving to be one of Plymouth's most popular wedding venues, but it is also a great place to stay if you are visiting Plymouth on a short break as it is only a 10 minute drive into the city centre, and about the same time journey to Dartmoor in the opposite direction. As mentioned earlier it is also an exceptional restaurant to go to if you live in the Plymouth area.
