I used DeSalis Hotel for car parking only but would not recommend it to anyone. The transfer is a shambles and on return from my holiday I found the mileage on my car had increased by 22 miles and an engine warning light had come on. When I complained at the reception (once I could find a living soul) I was told that the car had been stored some ten miles away. I subsequently wrote an email to the company which went unanswered and finally sent a registered letter of complaint which was eventually returned as 'not known at this address'. The place is just weird.

Take my advice, pay a little more for honest service.

The idea is great! Cheap long stay car park - £24 for 3 nights, 5min from Stansted with free drop off and pick up. First of all they do not clearly state this, but upon arrival (after you park your car on a muddy field at the back of the hotel) they take your keys. Dodgy! Then there's a delay of 40min before they take you to the airport (risking your flight). Upon return you call for the advertised pick up service and they say 20min. BUT arrive an hour later and don't even apologize. Lucky that the car was there and seemingly untouched. Awful customer service and treatment. I'd rather pay more than get this kind of treatment! Never again! And don't recommend at all!!!

If you are travelling alone or as a couple, the DeSalis is by far the lowest overall cost hotel close to the airport, mainly because of the low cost of their excellent shuttle service. Taxi fares from the airport monopoly service are crazy - like £20 one way to the Days Inn for example.
The DeSalis concept is essentially the same as other budget hotels like Premier Inn or Travelodge, it is not the Crowne Plaza!
The in house restaurant is fine but if you prefer an English pub meal, there is one within walking distance - ask at he desk!
Rooms are clean, quiet, warm and simple. The TVs are awful - they don't have a decent signal, the WiFi is free but can only be found in the foyer and there is no cellular phone signal inside the building.

But for an overnight stay before an early flight, great value for money, I will return for certain.

We spent one night here before an early flight. I found it to have an empty feel about it although there seemed to be plenty of people staying there. The main reason for this is a lack of any lounge or seating areas. The room was clean & comfortable with nice decor. I have noticed a few reviews mentioning the heating being either too high or too low. Our room was very hot during the night so we just turned the radiator down a little and it was fine after that. We didn't eat at the hotel or leave our car there as we'd already booked a meet & greet service, so I can't comment on those. We wanted to eat early but the restaurant didn't open until 6pm, so we drove to the services which is about 3 miles away where there is also a Days Inn. In hindsight it would have been better to stay there as the Desalis isn't near anything. Its doubtful we would use this hotel again.
