“Wonderful stay - Service and food top quality!”

Stayed here for two nights with a group in eary February and we couldn't have been happier. The rooms were very spacious, the views lovely and the hotel ambience was cosy, bright and relaxed with loads of places to lounge and relax. It's a great location for exploring Connemara and still only 20 minutes into the city. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. We dined in on both nights and were very impressed with the food. Breakfast was also excellent with huge variety and choice. I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Mixed feelings!”

This is one of the most comfortable hotels you can stay in - from the warm welcome from the staff on reception to the wonderful, comfortable areas to relax on two levels, with luxurious seating and fires. We have stayed here before and will go back again, so what you may ask prevents a completely excellent review - well, a few things and nothing that could not be remedied. As other reviewers note, the bathrooms are very dated and the era of the plastic shower curtain that drapes itself around you in the shower should be well gone! Our bedroom however was more than adequate and had a partial view of the sea and the grounds (which could do with some planting). It was the food that disappointed as it veered from great to dreadful. During a three night stay, my husband had to return his scrambled eggs as they were inedible and I overheard another guest returning uncooked porridge. These are not difficult things to get right. Again, at dinner, there was a tough beef stroganoff and the fish of the day was gone at 8 p.m. although there were very few guests dining. At a cost of 38.5O for the table d'hote dinner, we were glad we were on an inclusive short-break rate. To be fair, the starter and the soup were very good, so again it would not be difficult to correct the impression we got. In fact, we did not see any supervision in the diningroom from any manager and the staff on duty were mostly trainees, so this may be where the problem lies. It says something about the place, especially the reception staff and the bar staff, that in spite of this mixed review, we hope to return.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view

“Fabulous”

Just back from a two night weekend break at this hotel, I really can find no fault with it. We upgraded to a superior room so we could have a view of the sea, the room was large with a very comfortable king size bed and a lovely view of the coast. We dined in the restaurant both evenings the food being of excellent quality plenty to choose from and professionally cooked and served. Breakfast again plenty choice and well laid out. Being January the hotel was quiet but the service was excellent and there was no reduction in quality or choice given the time of year as so often happens in other hotels. Plenty of places in the hotel lounges to just sit and chill. What makes this hotel so special though is the staff, they are friendly, courteous and extremely professional, someone somewhere has invested in thorough training and it shows. Having worked in hotels many years ago where training was key it was so lovely to see that some Management still see it as a priority, well done we will be back!!

Room Tip: Ask for sea view if possible well worth the extra

We stayed for our second wedding anniversary having had our
Wedding there in 2010. We have always been treated so well
And that continues each time we have been back since. The service and setting is great and everyone is so friendly. I would highly recommend it for a wedding to a weekend stay.

Warm and inviting welcomes await you from the moment you step inside this cozy hotel! The furnishings are so comfortable, you'll find it hard to move from one fireplace to another to enjoy your daily newspaper or coffee break. Exceptionally friendly staff are on hand to assist with any question or to snap your picture if you need a hand. Wonderful atmosphere in the bar and restaurant and delicious food will make you wish you were staying for an extra night!
