We booked three nights at Durlock Lodge, very last minute as the weekend was going to be sunny.
We arrived on motorbikes and the owner wasn't phased which was good. In fact he told us to park them on the garden path which was behind a high wall and gate which kept them out of sight, although it doesn't seem a dodgy area at all.
We actually ended up in the self-catering apartment which has its own door and is completely self-contained with the previously mentioned garden.
The place was clean, tidy and well equipped and the bed was comfy - just right for a short stay.
Durlock Lodge is actually in the village of Minster, just outside Ramsgate, and the village is just the right size for us, with three pubs, Indian, Chinese and Italian restaurants, plus a convenience store open until 9.00pm. We were slightly worried that it would be a bit of a "strangers don't come round here" type of place but in fact the people were lovely and very friendly.
It was an easy walk to the train station, which we used one day to get to Canterbury when it rained. It's also an easy distance to Dover and the Castle.
We would be happy to go back.
