“Pleasant and relaxing stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Stayed in the Durlock Studio for 3 nights for a weekend getaway.
The Studio was perfect for what we wanted. It was cosy, clean, spacious and comfortable.

The bed was comfy and there were 2 bedside lamps so you didn't have to get out of bed to switch off the main lights before sleeping. The television had freeview so lots of channels to choose from. Wi-fi was available which was great as an important football match was on and my other half "needed" to check the score regularly.
It was a little bit nippy in the lodge at first (it was a January stay) but found a huge blanket in one of the draws and there was another heater inside the wardrobe so we were as snug as bugs after that.
Hairdryer and iron was provided. The shower was powerful and the linen and towels clean and soft. The kitchen was fantastic- had a little fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and a fab oven with hobs, so we cooked each night. A nice touch was a selection of cereals and hot drinks which were provided.
Mr Sworder was very helpful and kind. The studio was booked at the very last minute and he sent the confirmation promptly. He recommended a number of local restaurants and pubs. We went to the Bell Inn for a drink and it was lovely there.

Great stay- would definitely go back to the peaceful and quaint village and stay in the studio happily and comfortably.

Room Tip: The Studio was fab and allowed us to have our privacy and be self-sufficient.

“Loved it and will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

Had just one night here but wished we had stayed longer. Being from Ramsgate I regularly visit family and have now found the perfect place to stay. Love Minster, it is pretty, quiet and welcoming away from the seaside resorts but incredibly close to them all. Do it yourself breakfast to eat at table in your room was wonderful. Hosts are friendly people and have loads of information books and booklets about the surrounding area. Would certainly stay again, can't fault it.

“Lovely place to stay!”

We stayed here for one night on a saturday night. Lovely place to stay - we had the room with the 4-poster bed, which was spacious and had nice views overlooking the well-kept gardens. We thought the self service breakfast was a fantastic idea!

Only downside was that we found the lodge rather noisy during the night due to the other guests' - particularly going back and fro eachother's rooms - the echo'y wooden stairs did not help! As a result, we had trouble sleeping until the early hours of Sunday morning.

Still, would definitely consider staying here again!

“A good place to stay.”

The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The owners were happy for me to have my well behaved German Shepherd Dog in the room. Breakfast was a help your self continental style, ( no set time) laid out on trays on a table in a central landing area. It consisted of choice of cereals some fruit, yoghurt's, fruit juice fresh milk kept in a fridge. croissants and muffins preheated in an oven set on a timer were also available, and a cafetiere of fresh coffee.
We stayed for two nights, we had a good meal at The Kings Arms in Sandwich, and a good meal at Mortons in Minster village, I understand you can also arrange to have a cooked breakfast at Mortons.
I would definately like to stay again at Durlock Lodge, possibly trying one of the self catering units next time.

This delightful 18th century Durlock Lodge, with self-catering accommodation comprises a 2-bedroomed cottage– one with a four-poster – (sleeping 4+2) plus a 2-person studio, in a quiet village location of Minster with a railway station with direct services to London.

There's no breakfast provided, but there's an electronic oven with a timer, so guests can enjoy hot rolls with their morning coffee.

The renowned Bell Inn and three restaurants are all within a five-minute stroll.
.
Owners, David & Nicky Sworder, are former restaurateurs and will recommend local places to visit and eat.

An ideal location for exploring the costal towns of Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate -collectively known as the Isle of Thanet, separated from the rest of Kent by the Wantsum.

The local tourist office will even organise a local volunteer to show your around for free:

A few miles away is ‘White Cliffs Country’ including the coastal towns of Sandwich, Deal and Dover.

The locality offers traditional bucket-and-spade family holidays and a wealth of upmarket tourist attractions.
