“Ask for one of the new rooms!”

The hotel downstairs looks lovely, very much a boutique hotel, however our hotel room did not match the initial impression. The radiator in the room was not switched on and the room was freezing. We turned it on whilst we had dinner but it was not much warmer when we back up to bed. At 6am we were woken by a horrendous noise from the radiator which we had to turn off. Half an hour later it sounded like a generator of some kind had started up next to our room and there was a low annoying droning noise. The actual room was very bland, there were light bulbs and shades missing off the light in the bedroom and bathroom. Although the bathroom was large it is very much in need of updating, the floor had lino which was wrinkling and there was mould on the inside of the shower curtain. The shower itself switched randomly for boiling hot, to cold, to luke warm. A disappointing stay and I would definitely ask for one of the newer rooms if booking again. On the plus side, dinner was good and breakfast adequate.

“A most excellent secret in North Lincolnshire”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

My wife and I had the pleasure of a nights stay on our 21st wedding anniversary. The rooms are most excellently appointed and the food choice within the restaurant I would class as outstanding. We had different starters and chose to share a main course, the Rabbi Burns steak, a 22oz rib eye cooked to our liking to share, superb! There is so much choice on the menu that we are going to have to go back again and again!

“Lovely room - loud music”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011 via mobile

We stayed for one night as we were attending a function at the hotel. We had a spacious double room with king size bed. Very clean, very comfortable, breakfast excellent. The only drawback was the loud music coming from somewhere in the hotel early in the morning. we had the window open and it really was intrusive. We understand that the "big boss" who is slightly deaf likes the music. Well the customers don't so switch down or better still off as it spoilt an otherwise very pleasant stay.

Good Afternoon Dirts

Many thanks for your recent review and kind comments about your stay, please accept my appologies for the music on the morning following your function. If I may expalin we have an automated music system which switches off automatically at 11pm and on again at 7am, It is routine for the hotel staff to lower the volume of the music before it switches back on in the morning, I can only imagine we have missed it on this occasion and regrettably it has come on at a higher level, Sorry!

I will remind the hotel staff of the importance of reducing the volume prior to 7am.

I am somewhat puzzled that you have been informed that the "big boss" is a little deaf, I can assure this is not the case and it is not our policy to play loud musc in the morning.

Once again many thanks for taking the time to give the hotel a review,

very best regards

Andrew Smith
