“Get wedding location”

Friends had their wedding here. We stayed here the night before and of the wedding.

Room was a good size. Ensuite was large but with little in it. The shower was in the bath and difficult to get right. Had good wifi.

The breakfasts are amazing. Good choice and quality local ingredients.

The hotel were very well organised for the wedding and it went smoothly. Not too sure about not taking the sofas out of the ceremony room (looked a bit messy).

The wedding breakfast was really good. Well presented food, well cooked steak (to order), good service and wine glasses well filled.

For reception; good dance area, service of snacks, well organised bar.

A beautiful hotel with great service.

“lovely treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

We visited Horton Grange mid week for afternoon tea. I was told when i booked that we would not be able to have it in the lounge that day as there was a function on. That was fine with us and we appreciated the staff giving us the oppertunity if we did have a problem with it.
We had afternoon tea in the bar, but it was cosy and comfortable and did not seem like a bar.
The staff member who served us was very friendly and efficient.
The food was lovely, a real treat though, as there were lots of cream cakes!
No complaints, a lovely hotel.

“Lovely Country House Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I normally stay in a particular hotel in Newcastle, but as they were busy, and wanted >£100 a night, I booked into this hotel, rather cheaply in Ponteland, and drove the half hour into Newcastle. The hotel was a lovely country house hotel with impeccable service. Given, there was not an excess of staff (but I was the only person staying that day), but, all the staff I met, kept on talking to me for extended periods, so I cannot fault the friendliness or the service.
I had a large room, with a lovely antique bed.
I also had the fixed menu with glass of bubbles. It was fabulous food, and the wine choices were exquisite.
The cooked breakfast was lovely again-I selected Eggs Benedict. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

“Professional ,efficient and excellence wedding service!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Well we had a totally different experience to the lady who was disappointed . We met a gentleman at the hotel about our wedding next summer and found him really knowledgable and who pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of our wedding ideas . We valued his expertise and he gave us options . He really helped us and wanted us to get the best value out of our wedding budget. Every confidence in him --- didnt give glossy drivel which so many others did . Thanks

“Top notch overnight stay”

I had almost booked in at the local premier inn, but was put off by £72 with no breakfast price tag. I drove around looking for options and found Horton Grange the was asked if I wanted a superior room but I told the gentleman a standard room would be fine, which cost me £75 with a cooked breakfast included. I was shown to an outbuilding which looked fine at first glance. As I walked back to my room from the car where I had picked up my bag, the gentleman who booked me in informed me I could have a room in the Hotel building. The room must have been a superior room as it had 2 good quality beds with very nice covers, curtains and carpets. The room had nice antique furniture and a large screen TV. My room overlooked the nicely kept garden with water feature. On the negative side I had to put the kettle on the carpet, as the socket was a 4 plug extention on the floor. The en suite was very nice with posh toiletries at hand. I chose to have dinner in the restaurant which was quite pricey but as it was handy I decided to treat myself to a rib eye steak with bearnaise sauce at £23, wow, talk about melt in the mouth, the steak was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection with nice thick cut chips and the field mushrooms were very nice. The easy listening piano background music might get a bit annoying if you were to stay for more than 1 day as it was playing at dinner and breakfast. The breakfast had plenty of choice of fruit juices, fruit, cereals etc, I had a nicely cooked English breakfast.
