“Great staff shame about the cold room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We recently stayed here through a deal with groupon and think we may have been given the worst room possible and in need of updating as we were in the old part of the hotel. It wasn't a warm and welcoming room due to the heating not being on in the room and was only single glazed so we had to sit with out coats on till the heating was put on and it warmed up. We did ring down to reception and they brought us up a heater and also offered to change our room but only to a twin bed not double as we had booked. During our stay the heater in the bathroom never worked but the staff brought us another heater to make sure we stayed warm.
Our first night there was disturbed and I then had trouble getting back to sleep due to the night porter opening our room door at 01.25am!!! After ringing down to reception and finding out it was him he told me he thought the room was empty and thought he had heard a noise in the room! We did complain the day after and were given a free meal in the restaurant, the staff were very apologetic but it sort of spoilt the whole weekend.

“Nice but with some odd features”

Nice hotel, lovely friendly staff. Good rooms and food was ok. It would score higher if it wasn't for some strange touches: the bed side lights in the rooms are connected so they're either all on or all off. The bathroom light is actually by the entrance hall, making it awkward at night. Poor mobile and Tv reception. However the hotel is nice, easy to find, clean and very generous with breakfast and tea and coffees in the rooms.

“Fantastic Service, Fantastic Hotel and Fantastic food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Me and my partner stayed here for our 2nd year Anniversary. For the price we were expecting much less, however from the moment we arrived we were very Pleasantly suprised! Not Only were the surroundings beautiful but the staff on reception were absolutely lovely. The room was beautifully decorated with modern furnishings and a beautiful bunch of flowers and box of chocolates waiting for us. When we went down for dinner at oscar's restaurant the waitresses were very polite and welcoming, the food was incredible. This stay is worth much more than the price paid. The Rossett Hall Hotel is a definite gem worth a visit.

My wife and i spent three very enjoyable nights at this hotel,The ambience was excellent.very clean,,good size room and comfortable beds .The restaurant and conferance rooms were in a separate part of the hotel so there was no noise from that area, Breakfast was excellent but as we were out and about we only had dinner with friernds on one evening.Comments about the meal were mixed. The grounds are very attractive and would make a good backdrop for functions of all kinds. The staff were very friedly and helpful,

Room Tip: There are no lifts to the second floor

“Excellent New Year Break!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We enjoyed an excellent New Year's break here. This hotel has a great many attributes - not least the most charming and accommodating staff I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. The location could hardly be bettered; magnificent Chester is readily accessible and the North Wales coast, Chirk and the Dee Valley are within easy striking distance. Similarly, the village itself is not without its attractions and I'll readily admit 'The Golden Lion' is well worth a visit - or two! A very quiet and comfortable room, well maintained by first class 'housekeeping'. Another plus (Oh joy!): a shower that one doesn't need a 'Ph. D in Plumbing' to operate effectively. Breakfasts proved more than acceptable and New Years Eve dinner particularly impressed, especially considering this was catering on the grand scale. The decent and sensibly priced 'wine list' is also worthy of mention. There may be some 'downsides' - t.v. and mobile 'phone reception is evidently not the best in Rossett, and maybe I'd relocate the bar and bin the bath mats too! Overall though the strengths of the Rossett Hall Hotel eclipse any perceived weaknesses.
