Stayed for a couple of nights and really enjoyed having a room with balcony, overlooking the beach/sea. A spectacular location really. Breakfast good and staff attentive. Didn't dine here but the restaurant seemed popular and not expensive.

We revisited this hotel a week ago. I had earlier written an unfavourable review, largely because of unresponsive management. I am very glad to report (because it has such a wonderful location, and we love going there) that things have greatly improved. This time, we paid extra for a suite. but the extra bed provided, was provided free of charge, I think because none of the sea-facing rooms now seem to have twin beds. This was the principal cause of our earlier complaint - the beds in the then sole sea-facing twin room were 2' 6" beds but the Management insisted upon calling them 'standard singles'. Our suite was extremely spacious, with a living area: OK, no balcony, but still with great sea views. The room was beautifully warm, despite the chilly weather. Decor is still just a little dowdy in places, but this is hardly an issue. Breakfasts were freshly cooked, the food plentiful. Everything was as we had asked for. Service was efficient and friendly. The very-focussed Deputy Manager, Claire, seems to be largely responsible for this big improvement. So, if you want plenty of space, go for a suite- there are only two of them at the hotel; it's well worth the extra charge.

Great location for a couple of nights and second time at White Horse. A few improvements have been made, most notable is the new double glazing in the dining/breakfast area which was much needed. Had a room on the side this time, which was roomy enough, really comfortable bed. Full English breakfast, omelette and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs very good. All staff encountered were really friendly and helpful and accommodated special diet with care and understanding, evening meal was good. White Horse is in a really great location, with car parking pass, by the sea, and was not expensive. Rottingdean is a lovely village and has plenty to offer for a long weekend. Will be back.

I sympathise with those who rated this hotel excellent and very good - all things are relative? Simply put, this hotel is awful. The manager and his team are on a hiding to nothing, whoever owns this hotel should be shamed into modernising the structure of the hotel, especially the accommodation. Old stained carpets and curtains; mattresses that have seen better days, peeling roof; burnt lampshades; rust coming through the paintwork; TV system borderline useless, as was the promised wifi; no radio; very basic toiletries (small soap/shampoo) etc etc But the one thing that really gets you is the stench, that even daily scenting simply cannot hide - see above!
Breakfasts were okay, but dinner was poor - B&B is not cheap, but never again.
