Have just returned from this Hotel. I telephoned first to check if we would be given a bath as my husband is unable to stand in a shower. I also expressed a wish for a 'quiet' room, and was told we would be 'upgraded' to the Family room, which has a bath and is the 'quietes' room in the Hotel. I was so dissapointed after having a lovely conversation with the receptionist who seemed so helpful, same on arrival, bags carried to the rooms by a lovely young gentleman.
The problems we had are as follows:-
The room was fine and clean, nothing special if I am honest. We had a good meal in the Bar with great service but once we went to bed that is when the problems started, there was an extractor fan outside the window which was constantly firing up all night. We were very tried the next morning but had to be somewhere by 10am so got up ran the bath, shock horror, water was cold!!. I immediately went to reception to find nobody on there but a nice lady came out of the kitchen who advised nobody around until 8am, ok, not a problem, we had breakfast and just after 8 an elderley gentleman came to see us, it transpired there was a problem but nobody would be around until 9am!! I was mortified, what kind of establishment works like this? After a bit of huff and puffing I was told somebody would come in, a young mand did and assured us it was now ok so to give it 15 mins, half hour later the water was hot but after about an inch of water ran cold again. My husband couldn't have his bath and Ihad to have a quick wash down and wash my hair in cold water.
I mentioned to the young man on reception about the problems we had and his reply to the extractor fan was they were trying to get it insulated against the noise, so they knew about it but 'forgot' to tell us. The whole purpose of us going the night before was to avoid leaving early and losing sleep, with hindsight that would have been the better and cheaper option.
I am sure if you get the right room and hot water then this hotel is fine, I just feel there should be more hands on for when problems like this arrive and more honest about the rooms.
Everybody is extremely friendly, they just need to go that step further to make sure somebody is on site at all times, after all this is not a motel and in fact charges the same if not more than full service hotels.
Don't let this put you off, the location is lovely and in general hotel good and clean, just be aware of the above problems.
