We stayed here 31/10/11 to 3/11/11 and have resisted giving a poor review until we had heard from chief executive about our complaints. Sadly no reply to either of the letters we have sent to head office.We complained about poor food and atrocious breakfasts to manager before we left. He said it was a pity we had arrived as coach party season had just finished and food and especially breakfasts were not of a good standard because of this - but he had arranged for breakfasts to be better and would be looking at other meals. He admitted our stay had been substandard and that was a pity but he had been off for a few days following end of coach party season otherwise things would have been different ! We said we would not return to his hotel - his response was to give us £50 worth of vouchers for this hotel only !!! We returned these vouchers to head office with our letters. Amazing response to a stay that manager agreed was not good. LOcation of hotel is good but before booking would suggest you ascertain whereabouts in the coach party cycle the hotel is !!!!!

First of all if you are expecting 5* luxury this is NOT the hotel for you.

At first site it looks off putting, in all honesty it looks like student halls. However my partner and I were pleasently surprised when entering the large cosy lobby, we were greeted by an older gentleman who checked us in, he could probably do with smiling a bit more, but he wasn't rude. We noticed the small bar (and I do mean small) to the right and the restaurant behind that. Our room was on the 1st floor, it was pleasent and clean, no view but then we weren't expecting one.
We were pleasently surprised when we found there was a pool that was free to use, there is a charge for towels but it's not excessive. We stayed for 3 nights and swam in the pool every evening before getting ready to go out, it was never overcrowded and we usually had it to ourselves, it was clean and warm. There was a sauna which we didn't use but we saw many people using it. The changing facilites were a little dated with only one cubicle in the ladies that had a curtain, but seeing as they were empty most of the time it didn't make any difference.

We used the hotel as our base to explore Leeds and York, and it was perfect, we got a taxi to a local train station to get into leeds, again it was reasonable and the journey didn't take long. We also ate at the hotel one night after a lot of walking in the day, the food was OK, and probably over priced, if we hadn't been so exhausted we would have gone out.

If you don't expect too much and are looking for a good base to explore the area this is it. If your looking for luxury it is not.

I have used this hotel twice and will be coming back due to its ideal location just off A1. The rooms are a bit tired, but clean and warm. Bathrooms have been spotless. Staff are friendly and food plentiful for price.

Stayed here because it was recommended to me. Arrived Thursday night. staff were very friendly (in a genuine way not the fake friendly you get in some places) and helpful, room was warm, bed was comfortable, had a great night's sleep followed by a hearty breakfast which kept me going all day.
It was a lot better than I expected for a low cost hotel and I would happily stay again and recommend it to others looking for a pleasant and good value place to stay.
