“New Years Eve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

The Plough is what appears to be a former village pub which now I would describe by the modern idiom of 'Restaurant with rooms'. It has a stereo typical village pub look with an open plan ground floor dining area. Decor is stone flags, open fires, distressed wood furniture. It has a warm comfortable welcoming feel, this is accentuated by the owners (particularly the female half of the partnership).

Accomodation is on the first floor and comprises individual rooms continuing the country style.Nicely done, I think by looking at it slightly with one small eye on the price, but never the less, comfortable, well equipped and clean. I have stayed in mainstream hotels paying a lot more that do not meet the quality of these rooms.

The main reason for our visit was new years eve dinner. This consisted of a 10 course taster menu. The food was, imaginative, inventive, presented and served wonderfully. Make no mistake about it the young staff responsible for the kitchen are seriously proficient at their trade. The young people responsible for serving it were pleasant, polite, witty and efficient. The price was extremely reasonable given the night we went for, and represented excellent value for money. We had eaten at the Bar and Grill in Leeds the night before and paid the same price per head for steak and chips.

As with all my reviews I do not recommend a particular establishment, as your tastes may not be mine. However I feel that the above is a fair reflection of my stay there and will I go again, absolutely.

“An excellent new years eve experience.”

4 of us have have just spent an enjoyable new years experience at the Plough Inn. The accomodation, cuisine and overall experience will not be forgot in a hurry. The new owners have transformed the Plough in to a well presented place, with atmosphere and excellent dining. The waiting staff were young capable, engaging and efficient. The young chef would be a contender in any episode of master chef professional, as he is not frightened of experimenting yet maintaining a traditional balance. The Plough is certainly a destination spot, whether with friends or a place to have a romantic evening. Thoroughly enjoyable.

We celebrated my inlaw's Diamond Anniversary here. Theresa and Philip went that extra mile to made it special. The food was georgeous and staff friendly. The bedrooms and bathrooms had all been recently decorated, were spotlessly clean and most importantly the bed was really comfortable

“Terrific value, great food, gorgeous countryside”

What a lovely place! This historic building has been well maintained and the rooms are modernized and comfortable. The new owners are delightful and the dinner we ate there was amazing. We were expecting something closer to pub food - but we got a first rate gourmet meal - the 2nd best meal of the trip (the best was Thornbury Castle which is also hugely more expensive).
As the owners run this place themselves you might have to find them when you want to check in or check out.
Otherwise it's perfect. Highly recommended.
Hard to rate the location question - we wanted to see the town of Wigglesworth which is tiny but is the source of my husband's family history. Most people would come to see the country side which is gorgeous. Location is perfect for that - you have to be intentionally going to this region...in which case location is excellent (smile).
