“Highly recommended”

We live quite close to the Four Horseshoes and over the years have watched it go through many phases, depending on the owners at the time and their ability to run a good Pub. However even through all the changes the actual building has had a lot to offer as it is beautiful both inside and out and has a wonderful atmosphere.
Now the current owners have brought it back to all its glory. Together with all their Staff they are friendly and you can see that customer satisfaction is of prime importance. The food is wonderful and according to my husband the Guest Beers are first class.
The only problem is that because it is in our vacinity it is not a great help to my diet as we will drop everything and book in for a meal at the slightest of excuses.

“Good Place to Stay”

We stayed here for two nights whilst at a family get-together in an adjacent village.
Our bedroom was the typical size for an old pub with a very comfortable bed.
Breakfast was excellent, with local sausage and bacon, as well as free-range eggs. We liked being able to read a newspaper on the Saturday morning, although there weren't any around on the Sunday.
Would happily return and I know that my brother-in-law and his wife have enjoyed a recent evening meal here.

“Our favourite place to go for something a little special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

We have just returned from another lovely meal at The Four Horseshoes and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. It was where we had our very first date and so it was also the obvious place to hold our Wedding Reception 6 years later! That was a memorable occasion and the staff were very accommodatiing - nothing was too much trouble.

We have eaten at The Four Horseshoes many times during our courtship and have always been extremely happy with the speed & quality of the service and the food - so much so that we wonder whether some of the other reviewers have actually been in the same Pub!

Although it was busy today, the staff were very attentive and the service was not at all slow.

We stayed the night after the Wedding Reception, in a very well appointed room with lovely views, and so had the chance to enjoy the sumptuous breakfast that other guests have mentioned.

We will certainly eat and (if we can think of a good excuse!) stay there again.

“Food was nice enough for the price, friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Thornham is a lovely little village near Diss. I ate in the restaurant for my works Christmas dinner. The food was ok, I suppose I shouldn't moan it was only £17 for 3 courses plus free tea, coffee and mince pies. I had soup for starter, nice, roast turkey and all the trimmings but!(and this is a huge bugbear of mine) FROZEN yorkshire's. They lost oodles of points for that, I mean it how long does it take to whip up batter. Dessert was a banoffee cup which was home made and in a tea cup, extremely rich I could only manage half, but that's just me as most of the others on my table finishes theirs. The a'la carte menu looked reasonable, offering the usual pub fayre and a decent choice of lager and local ales and ciders. Service was fine, staff were friendly and accommadating. I'd have to go back again to recommend but you could do worse than give it a try.
