“First time in a B+B with a highly strung collie!”

Before staying at Rose Cottage all our holidays had been self-catering as our collie, Meg, is a bit highly strung. Consequently we were a little nervous about staying in a b+b but were encouraged by the positive reviews. When we arrived we were met by Emma and her friendly attitude towards Meg and ourselves very quickly settled our concerns. The cottage itself was warm, clean and very comfortable and there were no lingering 'doggy' smells around the house. Emma spent time with Meg to help her feel at home and, apart from the crackling woodburner in the dining room, she was very happy and content. Emma became Meg's BFF at breakfast time when the promised sausage appeared in her bowl!
As for ourselves, we can confirm that the same kindness and concern was extended to the humans in the party!!! And because Meg was so clearly welcome and happy, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay in Goathland. We will certainly go back and would be very happy to recommend Rose Cottage to any of our friends, whether dog owners or not.

“Great location, great host's.....just great!”

Stayed here for a long weekend with my wife and our chocolate lab Tia. We had a great time and could not be made more welcome. We had the large room at the back which gave fantastic views across the valley and was massive with a separate seating area. Nice to have sky in the rooms as well. Ideally located to visit Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick bay is a must along with a visit to Beck Hole and a pint of "Beck Watter". Breakfasts were lovely and please try Emma's home made jam especially the rhubarb and ginger one. We will defo be back and have recommended Rose Cottage to all our friends, as there is a massive difference between dog friendly and dog tolerant and Emma and Jaz could not be more friendly.

“Enjoyed it immensely - Bob The Cocker Spaniel”

Took my 2 owners plus Grannie with me for 2 nights at Rose Cottage. I loved every minute of it and the walks literally from the front door of Rose Cottage are great for a 1 year old active working cocker spaniel like me. Emma and Jaz (owners of Rose Cottage) could not have been nicer to me as they cooked me a sausage of my own for breakfast. Can also confirm the 3 pubs in the village are also dog friendly as well which seemed to make my owners very happy plus I liked going there too.
Already had a word in the shell like of my owners to make sure we get booked in the New Year so I can go have another great weekend at lovely Rose Cottage.

“Excellent weekend at Rose Cottage”

just returned from another great weekend staying at Rose Cottage in Goathland. As ever, Emma and Jaz were perfect hosts and made our brief stay really enjoyable. (they even arranged for it to be a sunny day on the Saturday while we were there!) The location, the accommodation and the warm welcome are always first class and I can recommend Rose Cottage to anyone considering a break in that area. Its a convenient location for visiting lots of other places North Yorkshire. Whitby is "right on the doorstep," and during the weekend, we also visited Sandsend and Staithes, both of which are well worth a visit. If you get the chance, also visit Beck Hole (Jaz and Emma will give you the directions!)

Room Tip: all the accommodation is first class, but our favourite room is the large bedroom looking out from t...
