I satid in this hotel for a business trip and I can safely say that I will not be returning. The only thing good about the place was the staff who were trying their best. I had dinenr in the restaurant. I had fish cakes and roastbeef. The fish cakes were ice cold in the middle and contained hardly any fish. The roasbeef was grey and came with microwaved vegetables and a reheated Yorkshire pudding. Hotel is in desperate need of updating and the large dog behind the reception desk scared the life out of me when I checked out as he jumped up with his paws on the reception desk.

I first stayed here as it was a convenient stopping point for a trip North but loved it and always make sure I stop here if in the area
Its family run and old fashioned but in a good way, and unless you are very uptight its a great experience to stay here, and excellent value for money

The night porter was very rude on arrival. It was only 11pm and the residents bar was closed. When we got to the room down a rickety corridor, we found the wardrobe door hanging off and the room smelt musty. This was probably partly do to the carpet in the bathroom. The hotel should have been updated several years ago and now looks very dated.
Breakfast was almost unedible with very saly bacon and cardboard sausages. They cooked the toast well though.

we booked into this hotel now 3 weeks ago the staff we could not fault them each one of them were very friendly , breakfast was set out well. help yourself .room was clean and very tidy very good staff on board a credit to this family run hotel, we would stay again , bar meals and resturant meals very nice . alison and bob
