Booked this as a birthday get-away through Living Social. Beautiful, quiet village, well worth a walk around. Arrived a night and couldn't see the back entrance to the hotel from the car park at rear (light wasn't working), so took a guess and was right! Very friendly and efficient owner (?) showed us to our room, which was nicely decorated, but cold. All the usual facilities were there, but no biscuits! and the milk jug leaked all over the cupboard top (sorry, forgot to mention this to them on leaving).
Ate in the bar/restaurant and the food was excellent. The waiter was just friendly enough and efficient, although the staff need to know (not the waiter) that we can hear you when you are talking about us. The bar area was lovely, with lots of comfy chairs and sofas and a roaring coal fire, but a quite evening was not a possibility due to other very loud guests (think the sheepskin clad 'in-laws' in The Royale Family), but I supose the hotel can't do anything about that.
Breakfast was very good and they didn't mind us altering it to suit.
The only down side to this hotel was the over familar receptionist, who talked about other guests (the loud ones), which made me wonder what she said about us and discussed in great detail her and her family's health problems, which made me forget about the milk jug!
Overall, this was a lovely hotel, well worth the 'deal' price, but I wouldn't have been happy paying the full price. If another 'deal' came up I would stay there again, but I would want to know whether there are any 'shooting parties' there as well.
Room Tip: Only choose room 10 if you are able to climb stairs as the bathroom is down a short, steep flight.
