Recently returned from our post Christmas break.Fabulous country Pub / Hotel/ Restaurant in lovely village.Ideal for visiting attractions in NYorks.Room a bit small but spotlessly clean,Bed comfortable,Bathroom great and actually had a bath not just the usual shower.Bar very cosy with wood burning stove.Locals very friendly.Restaurant and Bistro with great selection of EXCELLANT food both at breakfast and evening times.Lunch menu also available.We enjoyed it and would definately recommend it.

The staff fantastic ,the food fantastic,the rooms very good ,the owner David,what a miserable individual.Ineed of a customer relations course asap.

The rest of the staff were simply fantastic and welcoming ,the rooms basic but very nice and clean,the food was truly 1st class along with the wine menu very good and reasonably priced the red house wine was excellent .

The George and Dragon was by far the best pub in Kirkby Moorside clean ,welcoming and fully stocked.

We booked two rooms well in advance of our stay but became concerned when reading previous reviews, which were largely negative. There must have been a huge effort by the staff to improve on past comments. Food and service was excellent, room 12 (mentioned in previous review) was huge yet quaint with traditional decor and furnishings. I strongly feel that people should view the whole picture. Many have complained about the rough plastering etc. these buildings are traditional and this adds to the ambience.
Breakfast was the best, large and made to order from a menu with a large choice of options.

Paid £110 for a ridiculously overpriced room. Everything about the room was shoddy. Paid for a superior room none of the furniture matched needed binoculars to see the telly it that small. Damp and mouldy plaster falling off the roof and later when getting into bed found the sheets were stained with blood (disgusting). The only slight saving grace from the whole experience was the food which couldn't be faulted and was some of the best we've ever tasted, so compliments to the chef. Also found the owners very rude.
