“Never again”

We stayed at the Waterfront between 17/1/2012 to 24/1/2012. The Hotel was better than I expected room was large and cleaned everyday but the bathroom could do with a refurb.
The food in the restaurant was ok but a bit repetative and the selection was smaller than what we are used to. The reception staff most were ok but not all.
On our penultimate stay we ate a late lunch in the hotel bar within an hour of eating I did not feel well at all withoutrgoing into details that evening was horrendous and we were due to fly back the following day so I was really worriied as to whether I would be well enough to do so but by the next day I was a bit better.
Earlier on in our stay I overheard a gentlemen say that he had been ill during the night with a stomach problem so It makes me wonder if there is something going on there.

“GOOD VALUE AND FRIENDLY STAFF.”

just back from a 10 day stay at the waterfront hotel and happy with how we were looked after.
when we arrived in our room one of the beds was very sqeeky and noisy, went to rception and it was changed on the spot, also room was very cold and maintainance man came to fix it, but could only get heat between 4pm and 3am.
food a bit boring and repetative but not bad, would recommend the star cafe downstairs and the basilica restuerant as well.
this was our first visit to malta and personally after seeing the history things in the first few days, we travelled the whole island on the local busses i found it a bit boring during the last few days, and a week would have been enough, i would not visit malta again but the waterfront hotel was fine.

Room Tip: get a high up room but not 7th floor due to noise from the pool pumps on roof

“Second stay here....and would do so again.”

Stayed here this time last year, after moving from the awful New Tower Palace hotel. As I already knew that the hotel was comfortable and clean, we decided to stay there for this holiday.
We opted to pay extra for a front sea view room (we had a side sea view room last time). My advice is not to waste your money on the front sea view, as there is LOTS of traffic noise all the time and the side sea view rooms give a great view anyway.
As with last time, the rooms were clean and comfortable, although the bath area was beginning to need work. The breakfast buffet is fresh and nice, the staff are friendly ,and the restaurant has a lovely harbour view.
If you hire a car, lots of parking available on the sea front.
One downside, the evening receptionist appeared to have absolutely no idea what he was doing, seemingly unable to help anyone with any questions/problems!
All-in-all though, a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Side sea view rooms are the best. Front sea view rooms get lots of traffic noise.

“Third trip to the Waterfront”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We have just returned from our third January holiday at the Waterfront.Nothing changed from previous years, staff were friendly and made us welcome as usual.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, evening meals at ten Eurosare good value but get repetitive ,there are many good eating places nearby or in St. Julians.
One tip check the contents of your fridge against the list on arrival, YOU will be charged for anything short at the end of your stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor as traffick can be noisey.

“Unfriendly, old fashioned, grubby hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I stayed more than once at this hotel as the room was booked by a third party and I was there to work. No wifi if you are trying to work is a disaster and the ancient hotel computer expensive and slow. The mattresses are old, the sheets do not fit, the bathrooms are basic, the cleaning is erratic, sometimes not done till late in the day, the air conditioning did not work in June and staff was very unwilling to change the room! You can hear the people next door and if on the sea front the noise is deafening, as is the alternative - shutting the window and putting on the noisy air conditioning. I was verbally and almost physically (fist raised) abused by a rude and aggressive male guest whose noisy children were running screaming in the corridors at 11 pm and whom I rebuked. The staff could not have been less interested and laughed it off though I was seriously frightened. I was cheated out of a bottle of wine by the barman which they refused to admit. The food is boring, greasy and uninspiring. The pool area is small, part of it is covered by a dirty and unhygienic carpet and it smells of cooking. The worst is the rude, unhelpful, disagreeable and almost hostile staff. They will do nothing to help, refuse to change a room even if the hotel is half empty and generally make you wish you had never arrived. I disliked the hotel very much and I would never again set foot in it. I have asked my business partners to find an alternative.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms but levels 5 upwards are slightly less noisy
