This hotel is great!

It is right on the beach, which is beautiful (the sea is warm!!). On the beach there are loads of activities you can choose from, and they use all new equipment. It is also close to restaurants, bars and shops.

The restaurants in the hotel do really nice food, but it is a lot more expensive than eating out. They have a bar and grill on the beach which you must go to. At night they have music and the atmosphere is lively.

Pool areas are great...they have one pool near the beach where the families and kids tend to go, but if you prefer somewhere quiet where you can read a book and relax they do have a second pool near the lake.

Service was fantastic. If you have travelled to KL and Penang you will notice that the staff and locals are much more chilled out and not as jolly so to speak, you don't get bothered when out. They are still very friendly and helpful though, and it actually makes a nice change. If your planning to go to Penang or KL too, come here last.

My only negative comment would be about the rooms. They are fine and clean, but could do with being udated. I was scared to go onto the balcony because there were loads of cobwebs underneath. We had a lake view room, but I would recommend one on the beach.

You can book excursions through the hotel and we arranged a boat trip wth BBQ around the other islands of Langkawi...do this this with your partner if you get a chance.

Overall we had a brilliant time and will go back to Langkawi one day. We wil stay somewhere else next time, but only because we have seen some other lovely looking hotels that we want to try.

Ideal for families and couples.

A delightful resort hotel. Dissapointed the signature Thai restaurant has been closed and turned into the Meritus lounge. Existing hotel restaurants are inconsistent, but superior to those outside in Pantai

Recently I visited Langkawi for a family vacation. we have been upgraded to Sea View chalet upon arrival ... we were excited as we havent got booking earlier for sea view.

Hotel reception is quite good ... staff is also friendly and efficient. Rooms were very nice neat and clean ... Pool is very good.

Breakfast was little less variety in Lounge but still was okie for veggi people like us.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the resort.

Just back from a 12 day stay at the Pelangi which was our second stay at this hotel the first being 6 years ago.
I don't understand the negative comments about this hotel as once again I have to say we thought that on the whole it was great, yes the rooms could do with a bit of work (already underway) but we stayed in a beachfront room and it was fabulous, huge comfy bed, plenty of space and a view to die for. The vast majority of staff are fantastic although we did find a few of the girls in the lounge a bit miserable at times. Special mention for the reception staff who were just brilliant.
There have been a few changes since our last visit and I don't think all of them are for the better, entrance area and reception have been improved but the big old bar in the lounge has been taken away and replaced by a tiny thing off to the side, not as sociable as before as every one used to gather there pre and post dinner, now people just sit at tables and play with phones, tablets or laptops.
The Thai restaurant has also gone which is a shame as I thought this was the best. We only tried to eat in the hotel once, on our last day, and this was an unmitigated disaster we were kept waiting for 50 minutes and eventually had to leave having had no food as we had to get to the airport.
Would I go back?........not in the near future, too many other places to see.
Would I recommend it?.......absolutely, this hotel has an awful lot going for it.
