“An average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I stayed in the 2 bedrooms pool villa for 4 days. The villa was quite large with spacious bathroom, private swimming pool and a living room. With regard to the bedrooms, it was comfortable. However the furnitures in the living room were very old with mould that make me don't want to stay there. The private swimming pool was nice but the buffet breakfast was only in average standard. If you don't expect too much and would like to stay in private pool villa, the pool villa is quite a good choice.

“Great hotel! We loved it!! :)”

I travelled to Bali for the first time with 3 girlfriends in nov/dec 2011. We booked our accommodation at this hotel from an 'OurDeal' coupon with great rates but after reading the reviews on trip advisor We were quite nervous as to what to expect, especially being 4 19 yr olds with no Bali experience. However, the hotel was amazing! It was so much more than we expected and I personally think all the bad reviews must be by pretentious sooky people looking for something to complain about!
We were literally jumping up and down with excitement as we were so happy with our suite rooms. So big, huge bed, loungroom, kitchen, bathroom! Clean, aircon cool and great views of the pool! The staff are so friendly and nice. We had hotel transfers so someone was waiting at the airport to pick us up in a gorgeous ariconditioned van despite our flight being delayed. The shuttles to Kuta and Nusa Dua are great as they save you catching cabs as its a bit out of the way but we liked not being in the centre of Kuta too busy and noisy for us!! Cabs are cheap anyway and it was easy for us to go into Kuta or seminyak for dinner, shopping or clubbing. The front desk helped us organise our tours, private drivers and even ordering our delivery mcdonalds! they were great. brekky was good lots of choice loved the omelette bar and the muesli! The rooftop pool is amazing, so pretty! We also had a 90 min massage at the hotel which was very relaxing and nice too. I can't say much else about this hotel other than we loved every minute we spent here and would recommend it to all! We will be back! :)

Room Tip: The suites are big and fantastic rooms however we saw a deluxe and it was just a room with a bed I b...

“Very good hotel, Not so good location (for us)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

First the positives:

Suite rooms are very large and very clean, infact the entire hotel is spotless. The first night we found out only half the lights in our suite worked, however the next day when we came back from an outing they were all fixed and we hadn't even told staff yet.

Free shuttle service was friendly and always on time. However given the location of this hotel I would have liked more regular shuttle services and maybe to more locations (such as Jimbaran) especially in the evening as restaurants in Nusa Dua are very expensive and as a family we did not fancy dinning in Kuta.

Views from the bay facing suites are excellent, our group had three suites, one facing the bay, one facing the pool and one facing the adjacent building (which was very close), The couple in the last one said they felt uncomfortable siting on the balcony due to the proximity of people walking past. So definitely ask for a bay or at least a pool facing one if you can.

Due to the hotels location it is a very quiet and sitting on the balcony of a bay viewing suite is peaceful and relaxing.

There are two pools which are excellent and very clean with the top floor infinity pool having excellent views of the bay.

Now the negatives (from our point of view):

Location, location, location. This has its good points and its bad points. Not being able to walk out the hotel and find shops and restaurants in the local area was a major negative for us. But if you prefer the quietness its location brings, know exactly where you want to go and don't mind using taxis the location may be good for you. For us its location was definitely more negative. Better shuttle services would help resolve most of its location issues.

There is only one restaurant with a somewhat limited menu and is very expensive by Bali standards. We ate here a couple of times only because we were to tired to go out and could not just walk down the street and find something else. The breakfast buffet is good and the "westerners" range is acceptable for an asian hotel. However food quality from the restaurant menu was quite average and bland especially given what they charge for it.

When it comes to service this hotel needs a rocket up it. The breakfast staff are the worst I have come across for a long time. They do not re-set the tables when they are vacated so you end up scavenging cutlery and cups from the other tables because finding a waiter to do it is just to hard. The waiters very rarely come around and offer coffee and top up your cup so we just ended up going and getting it ourselves. If they want coffee/tea to be self serve then they should put it with buffet. When you are greeted at the entrance I would expect the waiter to show you to a table, make sure its fully set and offer coffee/tea not just take your ticket and leave you to do the best you can.

The Internet WiFi service was very intermittent and I think we only had working Internet for 4 of the 8 days we were there. WiFi does not seem to reach to the restaurant so you can't use it at breakfast. When it was working they kept changing the password so every day you would have to go and ask for it. However it is free but as there are only hotel guest around why keep changing the password.

There was rarely anyone at the pool to give out towels so most of the time we had to use our room towels. Mind you the towel counter was at the 6th floor pool so if you wanted to use the ground floor pool you had to go to the 6th floor pool first just to find no one there to give you one anyway. Also the downstairs pool bar was rarely maned during the day so could not order drink or lunch by the pool. I know this was low tourist season and not many guests around but it was quite annoying, even some kind of bell to call someone would be better than nothing.

There are not enough seats by the pools, only 4 by the ground floor pool and 8 by the top floor pool. We had no problems because there were not many guests around but I would hate to try and get one in high season.

There are no safes in the rooms and door locks and entrance sharing with adjacent room are somewhat dodgy.

Overall:

This is a very good hotel with some issues that could be easily overcome.

We got a pretty good deal on this accommodation but if we had paid full price we may have been more disappointed.

I would stay here again if I wanted to stay in Nusa Dua but would suggest a bit of research on shops, restaurants and transportation options to surrounding areas. A list of good restaurants that do pick-ups would be great. A good shuttle service to local restaurant areas would also be great.

Hopefully someone from the hotel will read this and take note :)

So all in all the size of the rooms and cleanliness far outweigh its location and service problems.

As a side note for families that like to explore on their own I would recommend staying at Sanur and not Nusa Dua.

Room Tip: Ask for a bay view room or at least a pool viewing room. The ones facing the adjacent building are n...

Dear sim69417,

Thank you for you review.

I certainly agree with you in your view of our location, whilst not in the center of the action, the peace and relaxation that can be found here is certainly a positive, especially for those looking to avoid the maddening rush of Kuta. We have recently purchased a larger van to increase the availability of seats on our complimentary shuttle and are revising the schedule including adding multiple trips daily into Jimbaran as per your suggestion.

It is disappointing that you found the service in the restaurant particularly at breakfast to be below standard. Please accept my apologies for this. We have recently restructured our staffing to include among others ensuring that our Food & Beverage Manager is on the floor during breakfast to further train our staff and ensure they are provide the level of service that we and Swiss-Belhotel International are known for.

We have completed installation of WIFI access points in all the suites and added additional ones in the common areas including the lobby and restaurant at the end of 2011. This together with higher bandwidth has given our guests both better access and faster connection. Individual access points for each villa are being installed now and should be completed by the end of January 2012. We understand that access to the internet is a must today and believe our new system will ensure happy surfing.

In regards to the pools and access to pool towels these are available at both the infinity pool on the roof top, and the Cabana Bar and reception on the lobby level. I am sorry that you did not find the Cabana Bar attended at all times during your stay as it is manned from 10am to 10pm.

Again thank you for your review and suggestions as it is through constructive feedback like yours that we can improve and product and service.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you, however, we had to go through a rather lengthy verification process with TripAdvisor even though we had already been responding to our guests reviews.

“Very isolated area”

Suite rooms were large and clean. Location is very isolated from everything and nothing is in walking distance so expect to use taxis a lot. Breakfast buffet was pretty good but would not recommend eating there for otherwise, very expensive and very average food. Service is pretty well non existent but when you can manage to find a staff member they are usually happy to help but knowledge generally seems to be limited.

Overall not a bad place to stay but not a good place either. Isolation and service (especially in the restaurant) are the biggest let downs.

Dear Srt1965,

We appreciate you taking the time to write your thoughts on your recent stay with us, and that you enjoyed our large suites and found them very clean. Its good to see the improvement in our housekeeping procedure is having a positive impact on our guests experience.

Whilst there are few facilities within walking distance we believe our location is central to Nusa Dua and Jimbaran with Kuta/Legian/Seminyak and Ulawatu/Pecatu areas only slightly further afield making us an excellent location for those that like to explore Bali.

Please accept our apologies for the service you experienced in our restaurant. 'Non-existent' is certainly not the standard we strive to achieve. I will follow up on your comments regarding this and ensure that all our F&B staff are aware so that they and we may improve.

Again thank you for your valuable feedback and we hope to welcome you back sometime in the near future.

Kind regards,

“Simply wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

The hotel was totally beyond my expectations. Expecting the usual small suite, the 2-bedroom suite we had was almost like coming home to my own condo unit! Extremely spacious with a large masterbedroom, a good-sized 2nd room and a spacious living area - all opening out to a long balcony that stretched across all 3 rooms. The view overlooks the sea and Mt Agung in the distance. The dining area, complete with a fully equipped kitchen was good too. It was clean, with attractive minimalistic decor and there was WiFi in the entire unit. Cabled LAN was also available. Loved the beds, which were firm and comfy, and spacious bathroom too!

The only thing negative about the suites was the lack of bedroom slippers - especially since we had to walk on tiled floors. Perhaps something the management could consider.

Breakfast was the same affair daily - passable for a quick bite before heading out to Bali's delicious food in town. Overall, this is quite simply the best 4-star establishment I've ever stayed in.
