“Excellent Property”

I have been to this resort in 2007,2008 and now in 2011. They provide a great room service, the rooms are clean and the entire property is nicely maintained with overall good service. The private beach is the biggest plus point. The food is excellent with continental, north Indian and south Indian dishes on the menu.
Take a complete package including breakfast, lunch & dinner and all the meals are buffet with elaborate spread, otherwise the meals on order are expensive.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel are better than the huts

“A perfect place to unwind with your own private beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

This resort run by Usha Lexus is a medium-sized property with extensive gardens and a private beach - a great place for couples and the family to unwind after the grind in the city.
However, don't stay here if you're a night bird - Varca is located in the middle of sleepy South Goa (and that's part of its charm, being far from the madding crowd) and lights will go out at Varca Beach by 10.30pm! If you're into clubbing, it's better to opt for North Goa, which is throbbing at night.
We opted for a five-day, four-night package complete with all meals. The buffet meals, starting from breakfast were quiet extensive with a lot of choice. Being a small hotel means that the staff give you personalised attention and the chef remembers how you like your eggs in the morning!
The hotel pool was decent sized and well maintained and we could hire bicycles (at an hourly rental) to explore quite a strecth of Varca beach. But the rental rates were steep, two more hours and we could have bought the bikes for what we paid for renting them!
The only downside is, the resort is very isolated - maybe thats part of its charm - and you have to rent a car to visit all the local attractions. The hotel did provide a complimentary half day sightseeing, but it didn't cover anything noteworthy besides the St Xavier's Church and it was difficult to share the small car space with another family staying at the hotel (they club guests together into one vehicle for sightseeing). Ultimately, the other family decided to go ahead on their own and hired another vehicle half way through the tour, which was wise.
All said, this is the place to stay with your family if you're looking for a quiet holiday close to the sea.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool facing cottage

“Varca Le Palms, Goa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We stayed at this resort for 2N/3D during 1st week of November. Our reservation was at the pool side villa and the rooms was pretty decent. Considering that the resort is right on the Varca beach, its just a minute;s walk from the resort. The resort is set aloof from the rest of the world, but its a perfect place for a vacation if you just want to stay on the beach and enjoy the white sands with a beautiful sunset. We preferred not to go outside the resort; the place had decent food; staff was very courteous. One of the best places if you need to relax and laze off.

“It seemed expensive for what you actually got.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011 via mobile

I stayed her for a week on a travel agent recommendation. I didn't know the area or do any research before hand. When I got there, the hotel was very isolated. Nothing was around the hotel except for a few shacks. This meant that essentially you err confined to the hotel boundaries unless you wanted to book a tour through the hotel. Having consulted my trusty Lonely Planet book, the prices at the hotel were pretty extortionate! We ended up having to organise a budget so we could stay properly, but that isn't what a holiday should be.

The rooms are nice, but our bathroom harboured a frog and a terrible smell.

Room service was good, and every evening a got free filtered water and a Dairy Milk each. A nice touch!

The beach area was being done up in our week there, but the hotel feels partially finished and opened to make some money whilst work is still ongoing.

My sister was not comfortable when out on the beach, as one of the security guards kept hassling here. Only time he wouldn't do it was when I was there. Again, shouldn't be like this!

However, it was nice to relax by the beach and have a very cold beer whilst reading.

“A hidden Gem-lovely beach, beautiful resort, warm staff, Awesome!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

We stayed 4 days in early October 2011 at the Usha Lexus Varca Palms Beach resort. It was absolutely wonderful. After a smooth check in, we and our bags were in a poolside cottage - a stones throw from the beach. Our welcome pack included- Goan port wine, fresh fruit tray and bottled water. The room was large, clean with comfortable bed. The Air conditioner worked very well in the humid afternoons. Bathroom was clean, decent size and well aired.

The beautiful swimming pool was clean and chlorine well balanced. I swam twice daily. The pool is very popular with guests—then mostly Indian with some foreigners. The foreign tourists come late October thru March.

For meals we went to Neil’s Cabana—the large beach shack restaurant. (The other restaurants open late October when the weather cools.) The Cabana is within the 150 meter Coastal zone where permanent structures are not allowed. It is just 20 meters from the beach. We could see/hear the waves, smell the sea and get the cool sea breeze. Food was delicious- Indian, Goan, Chinese cuisine was very good. Some menu items are seasonal. Buffets were tasty, having variety —a good mix of vegetarian, non vegetarian—each of Chinese, Indian, local and Continental for a total of 10 entrees plus two desserts to suit the varied guest mix. Breakfast buffet had delicious fresh cut fruit- we had lovely papaya, water melon and melons. There were always two fresh juices—during the stay we tried the range of pineapple, orange, water melon and mango juice plus lime soda and lemonade. The resort changes menus to match guest demographics. The Cabana Bar’s selection of late afternoon and evening cocktails was decent. Service was good. The staff were very helpful to two handicapped guests—one a young girl on a wheel chair and a spastic gentlemen.

The South Goa resort is perfect for restful family vacations or a young couples get away. The downside is the strong local taxi union (independent of the resort) which leads to slightly expensive North or Old Goa excursions (around Rs 2000+ or $45). The action (pubs & bars) is North Goa. South Goa offers peace quiet and beautiful beaches.

The Resorts fantastic private beach offers unspoiled soft sand. The beach Wave bar offers snacks, cocktails and a perfect venue for watching gorgeous sun sets. Sea scooters and boats are rentable - though I did not. Some guests were para sailing. I enjoyed regular sea swims, chilling on beach chairs and umbrellas that the hotel thoughtfully setup.

The resort is well maintained and beautifully landscaped. There were many flowers blooming-adding to our unforgettable holiday. The staff was very helpful and accommodating as my mother has bad knees. We look forward to coming back.
