“Great Location, Great Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2010

Me and my wife visited Europe for 17 days and this turned out to be the best location. Great for honeymonners. Great colors of Lake Brienz you can witness from this hotel. Great spot for Sun rise and Moon rise. Owner is so kind. Great breakfast, here we have had the best soft bread in the world. I would suggest everyone who visit Interlaken and nature lover should stay here.

“Spectacular & Surreal Surroundings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

This hotel has the most beautiful surroundings. You can't help but be amazed with the beauty as you walk out the front door of the hotel. GORGEOUS, simply gorgeous!

The public transit to get to the hotel is very easy...but be sure to take the train to Interlaken Ost, not west, to get closer!

The hotel rooms were small, but clean. Basic...(very). But that didn't bother us, because we weren't there for the room, we were there to see & visit the area.

The owners and the staff were friendly and accomodating...especially our breakfast waitress, (a student from Austria). She made us feel extremely welcome there. And the breakfasts, by--the-way, were way better than we expected!

Just wish the room rates were lower.

“Nicest place so close to the lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2010

Very kind service, simply but good and clean room at the lake-side. Specially Cilli and Tony are kindfull. Good to be here, we're coming here for years.

“Nice view but crappy Service and unclean room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2009

The hotel has such a nice view. Unfortunately, it is badly managed.

Pros:
1. Fantastic View (see picture)
2. Good service at their restaurant. Restaurant food is reasonably priced.

Cons:
1. Unclean rooms

a. We found hair on the beds.
b. Old bed sheets in all rooms (very rough and washed so many times that there are pills on it).
c. Carpet smells
d. Only the lake view rooms were renovated. The mountain view rooms were unpleasant.
(The renovated rooms are okay with the exception of the bedsheets and the tiny bathroom)

2. Bathroom
The bathroom in the room is tiny like a closet (Too bad, I forgot to take a photo of it).

3. Bad service
Bad service specifically the woman owner.

At first we ordered a mountain view room to save $$$ since most of the time we would be going hiking. However, upon seeing the mountain view room, we were so disappointed that we asked to change to another room. (Different from what you see on their website.)

Since it was summer, they were fully books and only had the Executive Room, the most expensive and supposedly luxurious room, left. We asked for a discount but the owner refused. She told us and I quote her " if you are not happy, then you can leave." ( we were staying for 3 nights and we would have been happy if she just gave us a 10% discount ... we were not asking for like 50%. ) ........Had it not been the summer holidays, we would have left and go look for another hotel. In the end, after negotiating for a very long time, we stayed in the Executive Room for one night with no discount (could have stayed in a 4 or 5 star hotel) and 2 nights in the double bed room (lake view) with a tiny discount (probably like 10 euros per night) -- dont remember exactly how much. Anyways, we ended up spending 2-3 times as much as we originally planned on accommodation, which would have been fine if the owner apologized, had a better attitude and if the rooms lived up to the price. The incident happened on the first day of my holiday so as you can imagined it had totally spoiled it.

Others:
1. location
--It would be more convenient if you have a car. Though it is possible to take public transportation.
-- Can take a ship ride 1min away from the hotel.
--For those who are superstisious, There is a tiny cemetery near by.

Conclusion:
The view is fantastic but it is not worth going threw that much crap for it. There are other hotels that share the same view or try hotels around the lake.

“Fantastic location on the lake side, extremely quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2009

Not a palace, and not so expensive - for a Swiss hotel - and the perfect location... Totally quiet on the lake shore, fantastic view. Chose a room with a view on the lake. Rooms are OK but no more, same for the restaurant. Service is efficient and friendly.
