First impression was that the room was nicer than I expected. Not too bad in size and a very comfy bed. Nice flat screen TV but the only English speaking channel was Eurosport. Shower was ok though small and nowhere to put any toiletries except on the rim of the shower floor. There was somewhere to hang clothes (like an "open" wardrobe) but no drawers whatsoever to put things in. I think some rooms may have had drawers though. The real problem was the noise. Initially I was happy to have been given a back facing room as I thought it would be quieter - no traffic noise (the hotel is right on a busy road). The person next door to me seemed to have an inability to stay still for more than 5 minutes because there was a constant stream of crashing and banging. I actually thought on a few occasions they were re-arranging furniture. It happened on all 3 nights I was there. Of course you may be lucky enough to have a considerate person in the room next to you but just to be warned the walls are very thin. On top of that, on my first night there after a long full day of travel, at about 11pm very loud music started up outside. By 11.30 I tried to call reception to complain, but reception had closed so I got dressed and went looking for someone. I found 2 of the staff about to go home but they couldn't speak English and my French is extremely basic. The music did stop at around midnight but the next day I was told that it was not unusual for the kitchen to staff to have a little get together after hours outside the kitchen and play their music! It didn't happen again, but I couldn't help but think that showed a lack of consideration to guests staying in the rooms above the kitchen. Unfortunately, at the back of the hotel is a football pitch, and the next 2 nights I was kept awake by late night football games - lots of shouting, whistleblowing, cheering etc. Again it probably went on until midnight. Granted this is beyond the hotel's control (at least I assume it is) but you should be warned, and the hotel won't warn you! If you're a night owl this may not be too much of a problem as some may not think midnight too late, but I was on a short coach tour so we had early mornings and busy days and therefore did not appreciate being kept awake so late. On the plus side the front of house staff (reception, waitresses) were very friendly and helpful.
