“A haven of peace and quiet”

I stayed as a single female in the Vanity Suites Hotel at the end of August. I booked directly with the hotel as they guaranteed to match any price found on the Internet. I had done a search and found a great deal and true to their word they matched the price.

This, as other reviewers say is a true adult only hotel, and being there over the bank holiday in August it was amazing the peace and quiet. The resort is a little way from the airport and to be honest there isn't a lot to do in the actual resort itself but I wasn't there to see sights, I was there to chill and unwind for 6 days, and I truly managed to do that at this hotel.

Check in was faultless, another couple arrived a few moments before me, so I was given a glass of cava while I waited. The porter then took my bags and showed me to my room. I had booked a basic room but had been upgraded to one with it's own terrace. I suspect this was because I booked with the hotel direct. I was in block 5, but I didn't have any of the issues other reviewers mentioned. I was over looking the pool and evening entertainment area, but it was quiet with no night time noise or smells and I sleep with the door open to get fresh air.

The room was lovely with the biggest bed, it was wider than it was long and the room was furnished to a high standard. I had a lovely bottle of cava chilling in the fridge to welcome me along with a place of fresh fruit, again this was a perk of booking directly with the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were better than many hotels ( I normally travel with my own pillow in the UK as I am a little fussy). The bathroom was huge with a double jacuzzi bath and a fabulous shower. The only criticism I could make of the room is that they have a nespresso maker and you have to buy the coffee /tea and cream if you want to make a drink.

Pool towels are provided and these can be changed at reception each day. There is a safe in the room, for which they make a small charge, but I never mind paying this for peace of mind.

The pool area is amazing, I was so impressed to see them washing down the sun loungers every day and changing the covers on the padding. The sun loungers are so comfortable, no hard plastic beds there. The hotel has made a massive effort to make this into a couples hotel with Balinese beds scattered around the place. There are a variety of type of sun beds, from traditional to hammocks, to sofas to the lovely Balinese beds. For once this was a hotel where people didn't seem to reserve sun beds at the crack of dawn and even on the busiest of days there were still sun loungers free.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely with fascinating iron scupture dotted around the place. Everything is kept immaculately by extremely courteous staff. There are a number of day time activites organised but nothing rowdy or loud, it is all very calm and thoughtful.

The pool itself is great, I love swimming and the length of the pool is such that you can get a decent swim (it's longer than a tradition swimming pool). I did go to the beach one day, but as previous reviewers said the sun loungers are expensive to hire and as I found they only hire them out in twos so I ended up paying for two beds and using one. While I do prefer to swim in the sea the beach was too noisy and crowded so the peace of the hotel pool was very welcome. The beach is interesting, if you foray into the extreme right hand corner you will find a nudist section, maybe something worth bearing in mind for those who are offended by such things.

The food at the hotel was great, I went half board. Breakfast was varied, I love fresh fruit and there was always a multitude of this at each meal. Breakfast varies from tradition cereal to fresh fruit, various types of bread, freshly made crepes, eggs, various cooked items etc. Dinner was the same the variation was good plus they had an amazing salad bar each evening with a huge choice of items.

This hotel is up there with one of the best I have stayed in and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a little bit of peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. If you are looking for lots of entertainment, noise, pubs, clubs then don't think about this resort or hotel. I recommended this hotel to some friends and they went in early October, they were so impressed they are hoping to go back next year. I will certainly be adding Vanity Suites Hotel to my list of places that I would go back to in a heart beat.

For peace, quiet, tranquility, good service and excellent facilities then book this hotel, you won't be disappointed.

“So relaxing if you normally live a hectic life.”

I stayed here with my Mother, as I had a week without my own children so wanted a child free hotel. This was heaven on earth, the peace and quiet was amazing but I often wondered why the couples were so quiet? It is mostly a couples hotel and therefore geared up for that, double sun loungers, romantic evening entertainment etc which didn't suit us at all, so when we saw that was on the agenda we just went out for the evening to the local restaurant. But it is lovely for couples, with the chillout music and Summer evening dinner, it was so beautifully presented, I thought there was to be a wedding reception taking place! The food was very good with excellent choices at both breakfast and dinner, lunch was a waiter service. I am a very fussy eater as a strict vegetarian but I was very impressed. The food was more to a German taste but this hotel is mostly German, you are greeted in German and only three rooms were occupied by Brits whilst we were there but thats fine by us.
Drinks are expensive in the dining room but this is the norm I think.
Staff at this Hotel are very polite and friendly. All Reception staff are also fluent in german and english they put us to shame. They are the best hotel staff that I have ever come across.
I would go back to this hotel, even though I am usually a self catering villa convert, this is for adult relaxation to recover from your usual hectic pace of life, you will not want to come home.
Accommodation was clean and spacious with a lovely walk in power shower with hot water throughout the day.
We was in Block 6, a lovely side sea view.
The Beach here is lovely and so close, the views from the top of the mountain walks are something else but hard going in the heat as you end up climbing!
Praise to all who work at the Vanity Suites, a job very well done.

Room Tip: Block 6 have side sea views.

“Lovely hotel, flawless service but make sure to stay in the "right" room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

We were looking for a quiet place to relax, far away from any booze-laden party zone, right in the middle of nature and without kids.

What we found is a beautiful hotel with great staff, nice food and flawless service. Situated in the far North-East of Mallorca, about 90 minutes from the airport (with a rental car; make sure to book this in advance from home!), Cala Mesquida is nothing more than a couple of hotels, some appartements and villas, two supermarkets and a beautiful beach with crystal-clear water. If you want to party or nibble on other food than the one provided in the hotel it's only a short drive to Capdepera (make sure to visit the Castell) or busy Cala Rajada with the amazing Palau March.

The Vanity Suites hotel is a rather large-ish complex consisting of six buildings gathered aroud a lovely pool in a beautiful garden with trees, shrubs and other local plants. As you are asked upon arrival in which building you want to stay, here are the recommendations:

House 1: Poolside: Morning sun. Backside: Late afternoon sun, but located next to the road leading to all the other hotels in Cala Mesquida.

House 2: Poolside: Morning sun. Backside: Late afternoon sun, also located next to the road but there is a small garden in between.

House 3: Poolside very dark because of large trees in front of windows. Backside morning sun, located next to a small street which leads to the beach. Here are a bar and a riding stable; the first you might hear, the second you might smell.

House 4: Poolside late afternoon sun. Backside morning sun, located next to the small street leading to the beach. See house 3 for "problems".

House 5: Poolside late afternoon sun. BEWARE! Number 03-06 (on all floors) are opposite the restaurant and kitchen, therefore people who are eating there can have a direct look into your room. Waste collection comes round around midnight and it gets extremely loud for at least 20 minutes. If you want to have a quiet night stay in another house or in the backside rooms which are facing house 6. Some rooms with sea view.

House 6: Front side facing house 5, mordning sun. Backside afternoon sun, located next to footpath leading to the beach. Some rooms with sea view.

There is music programme at the little stage next to the pool every night until 11 pm. So if you want to go to bed early make sure to stay in a room not facing the pool. Best choices will be house 4, poolside; house 5 backside (top floor) and house 6 backside.

The junior suites come eqippped with everything you might ask for in a four-star-hotel. I do not thing that it is necessary to upgrade to a "Priviledge Junior Suite" (on the ground floor with own little garden, two sunbeds and umbrella, + 25 Euro/night) when you plan to travel the island a bit. If you want to stay in the hotel most of the time it might be worth to book the "Royal Terrace" (+90 Euro/night) with own roof garden with jacuzzi, sunbeds and Bali-style bed.

Everything is extremely clean and there is plenty of staff working all day long to keep everything nice and tidy. The pool is cleaned vigorously every night and the sunbeds are very comfortable and also squeaky clean. Make sure to relax in the Bali-style daybeds and chill in the shadows of the mightly trees in the garden.

If you want to do something apart from bathing and sunning you can enjoy physical activities in the hotel, go on a guided hiking or bike tour, read international newspapers, surf the www (there is free WLAN everywhere in the hotel) and sip on a cold drink at the pool bar.

Food is served buffet-style and there is food for everyone, even vegetarians or people with food allergies. All food is labelled with colour codes indicating if they are low/high fat, low/high cholesterol etc. Plus there is fresh food prepared right in front of you: pancakes and eggs for breakfast; barbeque with fish, seafood and meat for dinner. Everything is fresh and the buffet is kept full and clean at all times. Bring a more formal dress for dinner, you are not allowed to enter the dining room in shorts and sandals! Friday evenings dinner is served poolside which is a nice change.

You get quite a lot for your money and all you have to pay extra for are the drinks, which are comparatively cheap. The 0.5 litre bottle of water costs 2.25 Euro; a bottle of wine starts at 12 Euro and cocktails are between 5 and 7 Euros. Even the home-made sangria is nice and with 3.70 Euro per glass not expensive at all.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Vanity Suites and will surely recommend this lovely place!

“Things to know about this hotel”

Hi,

We are just back from a long weekend in this great hotel. First of all, I really couldn't believe it but, this was a true adult hotel. Plus people were very respectful so there is always a serene atmosphere in the place. However be aware... The hotel is around 500m to a public beach. While the beach is gorgeous, we have to pay to rent loungers and put up with screaming children. If you are fond of the sea, as we do, this may not be the greatest option

“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

This is the first time we have stayed in the resort of Cala Mesquida, it was very quiet glad we were there for a week only. However we did relax and enjoyed reading my books.
The Hotel Vanity Suites was excellent and the staff very friendly. The food was outstanding and varied. The beach is very close and my husband and I went for an early morning swim(8am) each day, it is quiet at that time as you would expect but perfect. We did have a problem with our jacuzzi in our bathroom twice and each time maintenance came to fix it promptly, worked after 2nd visit, brilliant. Was disapppointed that Dave our rep didn't make himself known when I turned up for the welcome meeting. He did arrive, spoke to reception and then left hotel and didn't return. Anyway I would highly recommend this hotel. We were in block 4 and it is nice and quiet.
