“Great place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We came across this hostel by accident and i'm so glad we did! The rooms are actually parked trailer with 2 small beds per room (at least that's how many beds our room had). The trailers are small but comfortable. A very unique idea!

It's a really nice area to walk around, kick around a football, watch sunsets, etc. If you're looking to get away from the busy hustle of Amsterdam, yet still want to be close enough that you can easily get into town, this is a place to consider.

I'll be back for sure.

“A fantastic, quirky hostel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

Lucky Lake is a brilliant place to stay!!

We stayed in the caravans- very clean, and big comfy beds. The toilets and showers were clean- there were quite a few bug (especially daddy long legs) but that's to be expected when camping!

The staff were so lovely! So helpful, and made us feel very very welcome! Their shuttle bus service is great- first trip free, and there after 1 euro to the local station.

We rented bikes, and would definitely reccomend cycling to the local town. We also hired the kayak and went on the lake which was great fun! Their cinema caravan is so cute & has a wide range of films available.

The kitchen is well equipped and very clean. There's also a box of left over free food- pasta, rice etc. The shop has lots of bits and bobs, and they have an italian which delivers!

We stayed at Lucky Lake after staying in the city centre for a few days because we wanted a chilled out place, and to see another side of Amsterdam which is definitely what we saw!

The breakfast is brilliant!! You can cook using ingrediant provided by them, but we were full after the basic toast/bread rolls etc

Great value for money!

Room Tip: If you don't stay up too late, I would suggest you ask for a caravan that wasn't right next...

“Wonderful Wonder Land”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

The Lucky Lake Hostel was fantastic. You get breakfast every morning! They have a cinema room which is so cool. Small quaint and relaxing. The employees are so helpful. They are also so friendly. You can rent bikes and ride into town, which was a blast. You can still go into Amsterdam for the day but it is far. Overall, had a great experience and wish I would have stayed at Lucky Lake my entire time in Amsterdam.

“'perfect for a weekend in Amsterdam'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

we went last April for the queens day party thing and when my boyfriend told me we were staying in a hostel i could of died, but it was the total opposite of what i was expecting! it was clean and the staff were friendly, and the hostel was in a really nice location! the only downside was u had to get a mini bus which the hostel provide for something like a euro each way to the metro stop then u get a met to Amsterdam, which wasn't too bad as long as u get on the right met!! this wasn't a problem and we all had a fab time would definitely stay at Lucky Lake again!!

“Hostel with a wonderful personality, despite being a bit out of the way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

My partner and I had a private cabin here and loved it. Out of everywhere we stayed this place had the most comfortable bed, and even though it was rainy and cold, we were very warm and cozy. The hostel was very charming and staff was wonderful and accommodating. We highly recommend renting the bikes to head into the closest little town, it's a very quaint ride. Unfortunately, the weather on our trip was less than ideal, and the hostel loses quite a bit of it's charm in the rain. Thank goodness for the movie theatre though! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need and while it was relatively roomy, it got a bit crowded at times. The only down side is the location, but if you're not looking to stay out all night or party *too* hard, then this is a great hostel. Amsterdam was the last stop on our lengthy trip so we were just looking to relax, and given the rain, we didn't really have much choice either way!
