“Superb hotel”

A lovely hotel in a beautiful country setting. The rooms were spotless albeit slightly small.

The restuarant was in a slightly eccentric setting. Lots of candles, pictures and plants, but it gave a very comfortable and cosy feeling. The food was excellent with a sorbet in between the starter and main course. Breakfast was good and wholesome also.
All the staff were friendly and helpfull and I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Room very comfortable, food good, staff excellent. Couple of minor problems in room dealt with promptly. Another couple at dinner were watching something on a laptop, we asked them to turn the volume down but not enough so asked the landlord to ask them. He replied "they are guests too which we found a little odd, but he did so and it went down a bit more. You'd be unlucky to coincide with them, so I do recommend a visit

“Beautiful Country Hotel”

This is my sort of hotel. I can’t bear the pretentious and flash hotels anymore.
The rooms were immaculately clean; the bathroom was excellent with a large shower head to wallow in.
When you got to the restaurant / bar it was comfort all the way. This is the place I would love to be stuck in the middle of winter, in a snow storm. A real “ brides head revisited” or “alo alo” feeling with many, many pictures and photographs, plants, candles and artefacts of all kinds.

The food was really excellent, with a delicious sorbet in between the starter and main course. The staff were all friendly and courteous and we really enjoyed our stay here.
The view from the window was of rolling hills and lovely countryside.

The only one small micro criticism was the bedroom was a bit small.
We will definitely be back!!

“Friendly service and great food”

We were just back for our third stay at the Trooper Inn and were not let down. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend eating dinner at the pub. The food was outstanding and is worth a trip on its own merit. Breakfast was also top notch. Looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have some noise from the road but good views.

“Highly recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2011

The staff and the setting make The Trooper Inn. All staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We'd asked in advance to store our bikes somewhere safe and were offered their garage, they opened it up when we got there and made arrangements for us to get them back out very early on our day of departure. The room we stayed in (Oakshot) was great, bed was comfy, nice and clean, bathroom was ample (although far too warm). Free wifi, always a bonus! The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. The bar was cosy and good for a few drinks after a day exploring the area, we didn't get chance to eat in there though - more's the pity as the food looked great! Set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, if we were ever in the area again we wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Trooper Inn again.
