“Off the beaten path, a true Italian vacation”

My family and I have had the wonderful pleasure of vacationing at La Tavola Marche on four seperate occassions and can't wait to get back! Our times at "the farm" as we now lovingly refer to it, have been predominantly in the summer, but we have also been there in the snows of March. Regardless of the time of year, our stays have been a combination of un-plugged relaxation and cultural adventure. Ashley and Jason have such a love of their adopted country and do all they can to share it with guests. I am embarassed to admit that despite our frequent travels and best intentions, we have yet to learn all but the basics of the Italian language. Since Ashley and Jason are fluent in both English and Italian, they provided invaluable information and resources. Off the beaten path and away from the throngs of tourist, we felt immersed in Italian culture, enjoying the most amazing feasts prepared by Chef Jason and exploring the beautiful countryside. Wonderful hosts, beautiful location, great food!

“My second visit, and I can't wait to go back for a third!”

Two years ago I went to La Tavola Marche and broke my ankle. There's a longer review of it on Trip Advisor (6/09), but in a nutshell: I had a FABULOUS time there, even injured! So I've been dying to go back, on 2 good legs. We went in October of '11 (I know, I'm a little late writing, sorry) a gorgeous time of year. Think: truffles. Jason grilled homemade sausages in the fireplace, we drank some of Ashley's homemade nocello (walnut liqueur), and were toasty/cozy under the fluffy blankets. The landscape is so beautiful, we drove around to several of the nearby hilltop villages (Monterchi, Anghieri & others), shopped for fabulous meats in town (Jason will tell you where to go, and they vacuum pack, so you can fly with it) and we came back with seeds from their bietola (swiss chard) plants (uh oh, illegal? whoops), that are now growing in our garden. In fact, I just saw on their recipe blog (they have a really, really good website) a savory chard & prosciutto tart that I think I’ll make this weekend. Staying at La Tavola Marche is an all around happy-making experience. We’re thinking about going back with a bunch of friends next year for our 20th anniversary. All I really can say is: don’t just think about going; go. Gorgeous place, exemplary hosting, super-delicious food, extremely well positioned in the very special Le Marche area of Italy. You’ll not be disappointed.

“Perfect Italian countryside visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

La Tavola is a wonderful and relaxing place for touring visitors and food enthusiasts. The apartments are very roomy and comfy, with kitchens and modern baths. Ashley and Jason are warm, attentive hosts. Not to be missed are Jason's fabulous fresh meals. After a month traveling in Italy, our lovely time in Marche was our favorite.

“A truly Italian experience”

My wife and I spent a glorious week at La Tavola Marche in October 2011. It was exactly as we expected, the location, the rooms, the cooking and eating experience, the whole package. Ashley and Jason are very generous and welcoming hosts and their combined experience in hospitality and cooking makes forthe perfect farmstay and cooking school. Every meal was superb with plenty of variety across the week. Our room was very spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. Despite being on the 1st floor there was no noise in our apartment from above or below and even though the weather was on the warm side for October the rooms remained pleasantly cool. The cooking school was a great experience - the freshness of the ingredients and the authentic local recipes made it a great discovery. Other guests who were there at the same time as us made for an even more enjoyable experience. I cannot recommend this property more highly.

“Absolutely wonderful time”

Four days at La Tavola Marche just flew by. My daughter and I took cooking classes while her fiance, a chef himself, ate what we cooked under Jason's tutelage and pronounced it good! The afternoons were great, too, a hike to the medieval ruins overlooking the farm (Ashley told us how Umbria owns a tiny bit of the hilltop and one-ups Le Marche on road maintenance every year), and another day over to Apechio for the truffle festival. The rooms were ever so comfortable and the weather was just perfect.

Room Tip: Fragioli for three people.
