Just got back from a stay at the Pisa Migliarino Holiday in. It is about 15 minutes from Pisa and the beaches, so if you don't mind driving, you are well placed for getting to Florence, the airport, Pisa and the Beaches.
The hotel was clean and the food in the restaurant was really nice. The only problem with the hotel is it's location in relation to getting out and about without a car. There is no footpath along the road and therefore you can't get to the nearby village or to the shops unless you go by car. There are no buses and no trains nearby. The only way to get to the shops without a car was to take your life into your hands and walk along the motorway behind the barrier.
The downside in terms of location was that as we were on holiday we wanted to have an evening drinking at the end of a busy day. We had planned to got to a restaurant about a mile away. My husband had a drink and then we enquired about getting a taxi to the restaurant. Problem was we were told you have to pay a taxi from pisa as there were no local taxis and this would now cost us 20 euro - so almost £18 to go one mile. My husband and I were disappointed, so decided to stay and eat at the hotel, they don't have a definite chef on Sat and Sun evening and so the restaurant was closed without notice. We therefore had nothing to eat all evening because the we couldnt get to the shops, because we couldnt drive because we had drank. So we went hungry all night.
Drinks at the hotel were expensive 11 euro for 2 lagers, although this was typical of most parts of pisa, so be prepared to spend - 2 cappucinos 9 euro.
I cannot fault the hotel for its cleaniness and room quality, but it is very remote, so be prepared to not to drink, always eat out before coming back hotel or bring lots of taxi money with you. It also has not internet, so if you're one for getting on the net to email your friends, you need to make other plans, because they dont have any access.
Hope this helps.
