“Bad Location, Nice Breakfast, Better for young couples.”

Location is pretty bad. Got lost following directions on website. Ended up driving through salthill via coast road every time we wanted to get back to hotel as was easier than following countless roundabouts with roadworks. Check in was fine. Room was a bit tired with paint peeling from walls. Breakfast was very nice above average food quality and friendly staff. Buffet ( You need to ask if you want poached or scrambled eggs or beans.) Excellent (i never got to use ) hot tub out on decking area downstairs. Large decking area and sheltered which would be good for weddings during the summer, no doubt about that. Check out they tried to tack on extra charge for childs breakfast. Not good enough. We understood from our booking it was included. Stand offish attitude from the staff but not rudeness. If you like your service then breakfast is the highlight im afraid. Pool basically unattended so WATCH YOUR KIDS becuase no-one else will. No Major complaints. Will NOT be returning however.

Room Tip: All walls are thin you can hear your neighbours think.

“nice place to stay, standard hotel”

when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly lady at reception. she was quick and efficient at checking us in. there was a mistake with us not been down for breakfast even though it was included in the price of the room however she rectified this straight away.
the rooms were average, it could be more comfortable but everything was clean and there was plenty of tea and coffee. the bathroom was clean and we had plenty of towels would have been nice to have wifi in the rooms instead of just the lobby.
the breakfast was good with a hot buffet and a cold one. one of the members of staff in the restaurant wasn't very friendly no sign of a smile or even a good morning! however the other lady Brenda was a credit to the hotel so friendly and helpful!
its about 10 minutes from galway city centre and only about 12euro in a taxi which is reasonable
overall we had a good stay and would recommend it. its nice for a quick stay but not really for a romantic weekend.

“Don't judge a book...”

For three years I lived down the road from this hotel and never once stepped inside yet I always assumed this hotel was a dive. Well I couldn't have been more wrong. I don't live in Galway anymore and wanted to re-visit the city for an Anniversary. I got a great deal for Saturday night last and was amazed when I stepped into the foya of the hotel. It's top class, spotless and shiny! The leisure facilities are the best I've ever used in a hotel in Ireland and I've stayed in boutique hotels and they don't compare. The changing rooms alone were like a hotel room, leather couches, TV, loads of showers, hair driers and even a sun shower if it took your fancy! We didn't eat in the hotel but I spoke to a guy in the jacuzzi (as you do) and he told me they had a fab meal the night beofore. So although its a bit of a distance from the city if you're planning on hanging out Salthill side I highly recommend the Clybaun hotel for a great nights kip!

I spent last night in The Clybaun Hotel on my own and had a very pleasant time. Staff on reception had a great welcome for me and were very helpful. Breakfast next morning was very good in a bright and clean dining room. Only one staff member on duty and she could'nt have been more friendly. Overall a lovely place to stay and I would return. Taxi from city was Euro 10 and room was very good value.

Room Tip: Corridors very long so try to get room near to lift

“Great hotel just outside Galway city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Just spent 2 nights in the Clybaun hotel located just outside Galway city (10-15 min bus ride into city centre or around €10 euro taxi fare). Very good value for a 3 star hotel with leisure centre and swimming pool. I would definitely come back.
