“Barely Adequate”

We traveled around Great Britain for 3 weeks and this was the worst B&B that we stayed at. First of all, it was nearly impossible to find even with directions. The sign on the main road is completely knocked over and the sign on the actual house is tiny. We called about an hour before arrival to get the directions and tell them that we were on our way and even after all that, they didn't answer the door when we arrived. We knocked and rang the bell numerous times at which point my husband had to go around the back of the house to find them. They gave us the old "we can't hear the bell" back here, which may be true, but they knew we were coming so either stay up in the front of the house where you can hear the bell or leave a note on the door. It was ridiculous. Right from the get-go, we felt like unwelcome house guests.

The accommodations were rudimentary. The room itself was of average size, but it wasn't clean - lamps, bed, etc. were covered in cobwebs. We weren't given a tour and all the doors from the entryway were closed so it appeared that there weren't any common rooms. They didn't have any maps, restaurant guides or tourist information for the area. 8:30 – 9:30 breakfast only which I think is a pretty short window considering it is a B&B. When we did come down for breakfast at 9:20, they were utterly unprepared. No milk, sugar, jelly or condiments were set out. Half the stuff was missing and only brought out after we asked for it. Finally, we don't mind animals, but I don't want all of my clothes and personal items covered in dog hair - it was everywhere.

The only reason we gave this 2 balls instead of 1 is because it was inexpensive.

“Very Cute & Affordable”

This property was very cute and well maintained. The room was large and the bathroom was a very good size, particularly for Europe. The owners were very nice and provided us with excellent driving direction for our departure to Stonehenge the next morning. Was a little difficult to find because their sign is small and the property is set back from the street. Would definitely stay again.

“Absolutely Wonderful! Beautiful B&B.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2004

Our family stayed at The Beadles in June 2004 and rented 2 rooms: No. 4 and The Balcony Room. The Beadles was definitely the nicest B&B we stayed at in England on our 10-day vacation! I couldn’t get over how lovely it was! The Balcony room was superb! It had French doors opening onto a small balcony which overlooked a lovely garden and sunroom, and a nice large window on one of the adjoining walls. We were there shortly before the summer solstice, so the days were long, and even at 11 PM it was still faintly light outside. The night was clear and cool, and it was so beautiful I left the French doors and window open. I had trouble going to sleep; I just wanted to drink it all in and never have it end. It was perfect! Our hosts, Anne and David were very friendly and hospitable. We were missing our dog at home, but they had 3 Springer Spaniels, so we were able to get our “dog fix” for the time we were there. Unfortunately, we had only booked 1 night at The Beadles, and our itinerary had us moving on to Liverpool, but we were very sorry to have to leave. We cannot wait to get back to England and we will most definitely stay at The Beadles again! It was absolutely one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed and our hosts made it that much more special. Thank you David and Anne!

“Absolutely wonderful”

What a delight! We had a room with a view of the garden where we watched the dogs and ducks and geese roam about the lawn. The Baddeleys are the most charming hosts. Very Very helpful and lost of fun to talk with. We were served a wonderful english breakfast and directed to the most wonderful pub for dinner. I highly recommend this lovely B&B.
