For a town of its size, Salisbury is almost wholly deficient in good restaurants. Howards House, 20 minutes drive away at Teffont Evias is like an oasis. We lunched there yesterday. Very nice ambience, excellent food and intimate service. This is a traditional restaurant that believes in proper tablecloths and serviettes. Thoroughly to be recommended

Wonderful and typically English country house with croquet on the lawn! Have visited before - food to die for, breakfast and dinner - just perfect. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, only one criticism the room could do with updating, a bit basic we felt. Home grown veggies and a beautiful garden. Staff all welcoming, nothing too much trouble for them, a super family atmosphere yet very professional. We will certainly return again when we feel like a short break in such a delightful area.

Quality food presented and served in a relaxed and friendly manner. A most enjoyable stay in lovely countrside. We will be back.

The hotel is a charming stone building with an old Swiss style roof and positioned in a picturesque sleepy valley. The tiny village is beautiful and there's a lovely stroll down the lane beside a stream to the church and manor house. The hotel's sitting room is very attractive and comfortable. We requested a room with two single beds and were given the family room on the top floor with a small, but pretty window, overlooking the lane and stream. The comfortable room, felt rather dated, maybe it was the 1980s curtain pattern? The restaurant, though very good food, was let down by the exorbitant prices on the wine list, with the cheapest and rather mediocre bottle at £22, it just left me feeling the hotel was being a liitle bit greedy. So probably one of the most romantic looking hotels I've stayed in but perhaps they should reassess their drinks prices?
