“GPS”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Good service in the restaurant, rooms, and personnel. However you need a GPS to find your room. There is no lift. When you go up three floors with your luggage and you might hink that you have found your room, but no, you need to go down to the reception, go through another part of the building and go up again three floors with your luggage.

“Quiet, spotlessly clean hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We stayed at the Leonardo Hotel in Freital just for one nigh during the Museum Night and steam navigation on Elbe celebrations in early July. Booked via their website we have got an excellent deal (39 EUR) for a room with 3 bed which was exactly what we needed just to have place to crash for the night.
Rooms are comfortable, beds perhaps a bit too soft. Spotlessly clean bathroom. Very friendly and attentive staff.
Unavailability of free wifi is the only negative I can think of.
The signage for Freital is sufficient but do not be surprised when exiting the highways that you will end up driving for quite a while through narrow, curvy roads.

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2009

Booked this as a cheap overnight stop as I knew that after a 1350 km drive I could sleep pretty much anywhere. The hotel was so cheap I expected a bit of a fleapit. What I got was an immaculate clean hotel with good beds, new furnishings and a restaurant which, while a little limited in choice, served great food. If the Leonardo can do all this so well at this price, why are so many other hotels so far behind? I'll now check the Leonardo chain every time I travel.

“Hotel in quiet location in a suburb of Dresden, Saxony”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2009

The Hotel is situated in a suburb of Dresden, 20 mins drive from the city centre and close to three mine shafts closed in 1960 of the Queen Carolina Mine Company. The Hotel is 15 mins walk from the station of Deuben [one of several parts of Freital] and shops like supermarket Penny and numerous other shops including internet cafes and other good restaurants.. It could be used as base for the western Erzgebirge as well as riding the steam train of the Weissritztal Railway which starts in Freital [3kms from the Hotel].
The hotel is situated in three adjoining blocks and has many stairs but no lifts. The connectors between the blocks have suspended floors which make a lot of noise for any adjacent rooms as I had. The service in the restaurant is extremely slow and on the first night had to wait 45 mins to pay for one drink I had with the meal. The drinks are also fairly pricey. We also had to wait more than an hour for food on the third evening. The morning buffet breakfast was adequate but the staff did not keep the juice dispenser filled up and this ran out on both the first and third mornings. Hard boiled eggs were provided the first morning, scrambled eggs the second and sausage patties the third but not a combination. The cerial bowls were also far too tiny to have the cornflakes provided and were only suitable for a small quantity of yoghurt..
The hotel staff were friendly but did not appear to be able to speak English but only German.
The hotel is built on a slope so the basement restaurant rooms are in fact at ground level and outside there is also a grill area but as it rained most of the time while ther and also we only had a mx of 16C was unseasonably cold for July.
The hotel chain has another hotel in the centre of Dresden and many others in Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.
I would recommend the hotel for bed and breakfast if the meals were eaten in Deuben or elsewhere. Not suitable for geriatric people because of all the stairs.
