We spent 1 night at this hotel and it was an interesting experience. I made reservations about 2 weeks before arrival and even requested if they had a package with dinner and a sailing trip for 1 night only. They advertised on their website for a package for 2 nights already. However, the only reply was: yes we have a room. Then a requested the boot again and the reservation lady came back to me indicating it would cost 91 Euro for an afternoon.....

When we arrived on Sunday morning at 11 am there was only a coffee lady at the hotel who did not know anything about our reservation. Interesting, so we decided to check out the other hotels in this very very tiny village (one street). The rest did not look very promising and up to our standards so we decided to stick to Huys ter Laeck.
The website pictures look really beautiful and they tried to refurbish the hotel to look designy but the ceilings gave away it was still a seventies place. The restaurant lacked the coziness it should have had, the interior decorator missed the 'touch'
When we returned after our walk through the village, the guy who just arrived knew about our reservation and we were sat in the restaurant with some coffee on the house while he checked our room. When we received the key of room 16, we could walk upstairs to the 2nd floor and found an amazing small room. I could not pass the bed to go to the bathroom without bending over the bed. The bathroom was even more terrible: the shower was put in the bathtub but you could not stand under the shower as it was put in some kind of a a small concavity. We went down and requested for another room. There was not a soul in the hotel so why give us the smallest room you could find.
The guy apologized and said he thought it was small as well, he probably had instructions to give us this room. He said he would clean another one for us which we appreciated.
After 15 minutes it was ready and indeed it was a bit bigger bit still on the 2nd floor which is the attic, the bathroom was pretty old and only had a very basic shower. There were some thin towels on the bed and some sachets with shampoo and shower gel which you don't want to use as you might risk losing your hair.

We did not even ask about the boat and arranged one ourselves at the local sailboat rental and guess what, we only had to pay 30 Euros.

We did not even think about having dinner in the hotel and drove over to Beesterzwaag as they had some good restaurants over there (Lyf's) and we had a lovely meal.

As you might gather, we did not like the hotel, it is way overpriced for what they offer and are totally unprofessional. If you want to stay in this area you are better off going to another village/city and try your luck there.
