“Shocked about policy Thermen”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2009

We came from our town by car just for the connected Thermen. We can't say anything about the hotel and the restaurant, but we were just shocked about the fact that the Thermen was forbidden to enter without badsuits. We left immediately because we not allowed to do that according to our religion. Further it looked great and very clean, the price would have been acceptable.

I very appreciate that I didn't have to pay my parking because I didn't use the Thermenplace.

“Spa bla bla”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2009

We stayed here in April 2009 and had a great time. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean. No safes. The breakfast is one of the nicest I have had and I travel a lot - real fruit juice, real jams, decent sausages...
Ample parking (free) and the spa next door is great - special offer of 15 Euros per person per day when we were there. Be careful though, the sauna area is nude.

“nice spa!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2009

I booked a stay for 1 night at the last minute and got a deal for DBL room with breakfast for 65€ (normal price was over 100€).
You definitely need a car to get there, it is located near a roadway.

The room and overall the hotel was clean, though I wouldn't give it 4 stars, maybe 3 the most. The hotel needs some refurbishment and fresh touch, now it looks a bit tired.
Service was excellent, so was the spa. Please note that this is all naked spa, where men and women are together. There were about 4 different saunas and few pools plus a really nice terrace outside! I really recommend to use the facilities while staying at this hotel, though you might not be very comfortable with nakedness, but after a few times you (have to) get used to it :)

Food selection for breakfast was enjoyable and tasty. They had eggs and bacon as well as croissants and yoghurt.

What I didn't like was that the signs all over the hotel were only in Dutch. Seemed like there were staying mostly locals but still I'd expect information to be in English as well, since it's a hotel after all...

“fantastic breakfast in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2009

This hotel was refurbished 18 months ago, when a Spa ('Thermen') was added, together with a lovely garden and a large terrace. It is only 5 minutes from the main highway to Maastricht, but as you are surrounded by forest, it is very quiet. The breakfast at this hotel is excellent. A massive buffet, efficient staff and again nice views across the forest. The breakfast area would be suitable for business breakfast meetings as well, as you are about 40 minutes from Eindhoven and Maastricht and one hours drive from Dusseldorf in Germany. The room was very comfortable and had its own terrace. The bathroom was spotless! It was fitted with a big whirlpool bath and great, tall shower. The Spa has a dedicated restaurant, many treatment rooms, a large indoors-outdoors swimming pool and many relaxing areas. This hotel is located on the border of Dutch and Belgian Limburg and is an excellent base to discover this region, one of the most beautiful parts of Europe with meandering rivers and castles. We cycled there (the hotel has a special bike shed), but the hotel offers many packages with Spa treatments and tours to Maastricht.

“Lower your expectations of a "four star" experience if you stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2008

We should have listened to the only other reviewer! We booked online hoping the four star claim and the "junior suite" would be reasonable. They claimed a "king size bed" which turned out to be only two small twin mattresses pushed together. They admitted at reception they had NO kingsized beds. The mattresses themselves were so poor, you could feel individual metal springs when you sat on them. Housekeeping was a joke. The first day someone came to our room and emptied the trash but left dirty coffee cups and an unmade bed (still there at 9 PM even though we vacated the room at 8AM). We complained and the coffee was restocked and clean cups provided. The next day the bed was made, but again no clean cups nor restocked coffee supplies. Ditto day three...and fourth day they restocked coffee cups and servings, but took all the water glasses and didn't give us new ones, this trend continue for the remainder of our stay. Unfortunately for us, there were no other hotels as conveniently located for our visit. Only reasonable thing was breakfast was tolerable aside from their scrambled "eggs" which appeared to be some sorrt of yellow tofu like substance. IF YOU HAVE to stay here, make sure to try and get the exhorbitant price of the breakfast buffet included in your room. We booked online and they charged 15 euro per person extra for this. While we were actually AT the hotel we heard them repeatedly quoting walk-in customers a LOWER RATE per night that INCLUDED breakfast! All in all, definitely NOT a four star experience by the remotest imagination and definitely it will not be a repeat visit for us!
