“Great value if you have a car and love the dutch countryside!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days and have no real negative things to say about the stay. we knew beforehand that it was and is in the middle of nowhere (literally)....and being without a car we were aware of the limitations of transport through previous reviews in tripadvisor. For us it did not matter as we were out after a place where we could stay in quiet surroundings.
The room was average standard, the staff friendly and rooms were kept clean. The closest shop/supermarket is 3 km with bike from hotel 10 - 15 minutes (they rent bikes in the hotel).
Getting to anywhere with bus is difficult...even taxi is difficult to arrange even from close towns like edam, volendam or purmerend. If you need a taxi arrange this one day before you need it. (the ride cost about 25 Euros to Edam)
If traveling by car this is a super deal though, the price friendliest :-) Not too far from Edam, Volendam and Amsterdam and a beautiful countryside!

“Excellent price, excellent location...just don't expect luxury”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

Two important points......1) DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE WANTING A WEEKEND IN AMSTERDAM!! 2) YOU NEED A CAR.

If you want a hotel in the countryside, but would like to go to Amsterdam for the day then it is perfect. We had no trouble locating the hotel, it is clearly marked on Google Maps. The location of the hotel is idyllic, just outside the tiny village of Warder. There is one pub in Warder and no shops but Edam is only a few miles away.

The room itself looked like it hadn't been decorated for 25 years. It was fairly spacious though, as was the bathroom. Our room had a jacuzzi bath which was amazing, 2nd best bath I've ever had after Caesar's Palace in Vegas so that was a big plus point! The sheets were quite itchy and I did worry there were bed bugs but on the second night they had softened and were fine. No bed bug bites to report!!

The restaurant looked a bit rubbish so we didn't bother eating there. There was a 3 course set menu for 25 euro but didn't look so great. Breakfast was 10 euro but seemed to be just croissants/bread/cheese etc so we just took our own breakfast supplies.

If you want to go to Amsterdam for the day, I would recommend driving to a Park and Ride. We went to one called Wormerland Park and Ride. It is located on the N515 just off the A7. It is signposted: Zaandijk, Zaanse Schans, Wormerland P&R . You park next to a Burger King, and then the bus stop is on the main road. The 91 bus takes you to Amsterdam Central Station for €2.50. The car park is free.

“Terrible”

We travelled in The Netherlands at the third time and was shocked by this hotel.
The first room was dirty, without heating (there was only condition without control panel, it was not enough). Our child slept with us because of cold. Next morning I catch a cold. Double bed was twin with different size and level mattresses, dirty walls, very small bathroom with shower. That triple room has only 1 bedside table with broken lamp, 1 console, 1 armchair. All was very old. Furniture seems like from trash dump. Next day they give us another room with Jacuzzi, more cleanly, but with spiders in the bathroom and wet smear at the ceiling.
We didn’t risk eating at hotel restaurant.
Not good spot for visiting Amsterdam, it takes more 40 minutes to get Amsterdam -narrow roads with low speed around that place. Small roads to the hotel are covered ice and snow in the winter, so it’s enough dangerous to drive. Hotel parking was covered by ice (not cleaned)- the first morning we were unable to leave hotel. My husband digged ice under car wheels by shovel and they didn’t help us. Next nights we stayed our car closer to the road.
I suppose that regardless of hotel stars room must be neat and clean.
Definitely don't recommend this hotel.
Fortunately, Nord Holland is so beautiful!

“Just don't lock yourself out of your room!”

Lovely hotel. The room was clean, spacious, well decorated. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful - they came to collect us from Amsterdam on the first night when we were lost trying to find our way to the hotel. Only two warnings really.

1. If you go out onto the terrace / balcony at night make ABSOLUTELY SURE that you do not shut the door behind you! There is nobody at reception at night to help you out, so if you have been in Amsterdam enjoying the bars and the cafes, please please please do keep your wits about you regarding those doors. You do not want to have to sleep in reception. Especially in the summer. The hotel is near to water and there are a lot of mozzies in reception at night.

2. As people have already mentioned, it would be ideal to stay in this hotel only if you have a car. However, we did not have a car and we managed quite well using a mixture of leg power and public transport. Be warned though - it is quite a long walk (although a very pleasant one), especially if you get lost, so take proper directions and maybe some water. If you want to enjoy the nightlife in the city centre you will not be able to as the last bus is a little after midnight. If you just want to wander around Amsterdam during the day however, and have a nice, friendly, quiet place to sleep at night, then this is the place for you. It is cheap and MUCH nicer than a hostel.

“Very Enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2009

Stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute of it, hotel was clean, staff were friendly, would recommend to friends, in fact going back later in the year to take the children, my only word of advice is "you do need a car"
