July 17th 2004 - While visiting the different Reisling makers of Germany we stayed at the Waldhotel Gietz. From the pictures I saw on the websites, I thought it would be a little nicer than it actually was. It seemed to need some updating. I thought it was going to be more of a spa/resort type hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable with all the essentials including a refrigerator. The hotel was located remotely from the bar/restaurants and shopping in Rudesheim. I would call ahead for detailed directions to the hotel from the main roads. The breakfast was good and the staff spoke limited english. I think we would stay in Rudesheim if we visited the area again
