Spent 8 nights in July 2010 - Kate and Phill couldn't have been more welcoming or more helpful.
A really great experience in a truly wonderful location

Phill and Kate have done a marvelous job since purchasing this property about four years ago. Everything is superclean and neat and well maintained. They have also posted interesting facts about the building's history on the walls. We alerted them that we would be arriving very late. When we finally got there at 1:30 am Phill was there to greet us and look after us. The Grunenberg is located in a quiet rural setting which makes it a great place to unwind. It is also close to a number of attractions so it is an excellent home base while exploring the Black Forest region.

We stayed in one of the studio apartments for 4 nights this July and it was perfect. A cosy, comfortable room with basic, but perfectly adequate kitchen equipment. The setting is fabulous - in a beautiful valley surrounded by pines. Kate and Phil give a warm welcome and are on hand for suggestions for restaurants and activities. The tourist info centre is 2 minutes walk and provides bike hire as well as walking and cycling maps (although these are also available in the communal TV room at Grunenberg). Check out the fantastic spa pool just a few minutes walk away.

Travelled to the Black Forest for just 2 nights but could/should have stayed longer.
Kate and Phil very welcoming and great local knowledge, rooms comfortable and good family unit including a twin and double room with ensuite. Ideal for a family. Very good location and good facilities for meeting the other guests. Good local restaurants and Phil and Kate very good at recommending local attractions whatever your interests. Had a very enjoyable stay
