“A Weekend Away"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed here from Friday afternoon till Sunday afternoon and had a very relaxing and enjoiyable time. The views of the lough were fantastic and the fresh air is amazing. The weather was poor but still managed three sessions in the hot tub and used the sauna and steam room extensively. Staff in all areas - the spa, the reception, the restaurat and bar were friendly efficient and very willing to help. If I had a criticism - I would have liked the Bar Menu to be revamped as the portion sizes are a little small considering that this was our main meal on the evening we arrived, but the great brerakfasts more than compensated with the best muesli and fruit range I have ever seem.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the lough as there are some rooms with little or no views.

I was a guest at a wedding in Cromleach Lodge recently ,not a happy customer.
I have stayed and dined in numerous 4 and 5 star hotels in Ireland and this was not up to the 4 star standard ,3 star at a push. The entrance road was a rough gravel road the car park was also rough gravel area ,with a steep gradient back to the hotel reception that anyone would find difficult to walk on,it was like a decent from a mountain and very unsafe.
The hotel has a very poorly designed layout, narrow hallways steps up steps down all over the hotel. The hotel bar was opened before the wedding meal with about 100 guests in attendance for the meal ,there was clearly not enough room for the 100 guests attending the wedding party.people in the hallway ,guests cramped under the stairwell ,and the bar area was cramped with most guests standing in uncomfortable areas ,to small for a party of 100 ,more suitable for 30 to 40 guests, most people were scattered in the hallway before the meal. The bar was closed before the meal and before we were called to the dining area again more steps to another floor level .I went to the bar in the dining area with four staff behind the bar one bar man informed me quiet abruptly the bar was not open, the bar down stairs was also closed.
The meal soup was only ok the bread came a long long time later, the vol au vent was very
small and cold in the middle, the main was a choice of sea bass or beef,I went for beef ,over cooked quiet rubbery the salt and pepper was taken of the table before the main course was finished as was the side plate with the vegetable, I did not know why they could not give sufficent time to leave the salt and pepper and the veg on the table when eating the main course. The desert was a selection of desert s,the apple crumble was stodgy the rest poor enough. The wine served was less than half a glass at the start of the meal, with a top up during the meal ,so less than a full glass served for the entire meal, but plenty of top ups with the water.
Price of drinks steep enough at 5.60 euro for two minerals and 9.00 euro for a pint of beer and a bottle of beer, the celtic tiger era is over apparently not in this hotel which was over priced ,over rated and I would definetly not go to Cromleach lodge again, way to small a venue for 100 guests .

“Relaxed, great setting, far from the maddening crowd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed here for one night in a delux room over looking Loch Arrow. The room was superb and the complimentary baileys was a lovely touch - nice with a lovely bath! The bathroom was huge, which was nice to come back to after trekking through the woods (and getting lost in the dark, climbing through ditches!! there was a good bit of mud!). The sunset over the lake was fantastic, The service was excellent. The food in the restaurant was top class - great choices. The hot tub in the spa area, outside in January was fantastic! Would recommend this place to anyone.

Room Tip: All delux rooms have a great view and very spacious.

“Cromleach Lodge”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed in Cromleach Lodge as part of a wedding party. Since it's 4 star and I've stayed in numerous 4 and 5 star hotels for special occasions, I was expecting a high standard. From the start, I was a bit surprised and the poor standard and irritating flaws. You have to walk past the restaurant to get to the reception (a narrow hall when you've got considerable luggage). Once we'd checked in, we'd to wait for someone to show us to our room. Once we seen where the room was, it was obvious that this was needed. Our room was down a hallway, up 1 floor in a lift, down another hall way, up 2 flights of stairs and then down another flight of stairs. We booked a 'superior suite'. Not a suite by other hotel standards. the room was nice and modern (had a little table with a mirror just off the room which was nice touch). the bathroom was huge but mostly an empty space. the use of space was poor. The 'superior suites' are really nice 'standard' rooms and I wouldn't recommend paying for the superior room. the view was mainly of the side of the hotel and the steep untarred road to the carpark. For anyone that looks after their car, take your time driving in, you'd be swallowed in some of the potholes. I enjoyed the wedding but that was due to the people not the hotel. Check out is 11.30 which is quite early and breakfast stops at 10.45 which is ridiculously early compared to other hotels. We missed breakfast so rang reception to see if a lunch or bar menu was available. We were told we could order from the 'snack menu'. We went down to the bar and were made to feel like it was a hassle to have to serve us and were told by one of the female waitresses that they didn't start serving until 1 (both the receptionist and menu stated 10am. It was 12 am when we went down). There were only 2 of us who literally wanted something to eat before we hit the road. We weren't looking for a 5 course dinner. we ended up getting toasted sandwiches and chips and paid 20 euro. Don't go for the toasted sandwiches, we got 2 sparsely filled sandwiches each and with the rude service, they had the neck to charge us full price. we weren't asked to fill in a comments card and I didn't see one in the room - go figure. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Yes the views are nice but unless you get the weather or are happy to sit looking at a view for a weekend, there's nothing that would attract me back...

Room Tip: Ask for a room near reception. It was a hassle having to walk for miles anytime you wanted to go bac...

“Cromleach Lodge - Superb”

Hi, My wife and I stayed in this fabulous hotel Saturday night. We stayed in a deluxe bedroom that had an amazing view over Lough Arrow, it has to be seen to be appreciated. The room was very large, modern and very comfortable. Staff in the hotel are top class, very attentive and friendly. We dined in the restaurant, food was delicious, too much to chose from, my wife had a duck starter and sea bass for a main, I went for goats cheese tartlet followed by chicken wrapped in parma ham, everything from the food to the service was 10 out of 10. Finished off the night with cocktails in the bar, excellent. When we finally retired to the room, you could hear a pin drop, the silence was golden, best night's sleep we had in ages. The hotel was very busy, great to see a place so busy, they offer great food, great service, great rooms at reasonable rate. Would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant if you need to take a break.

Room Tip: Go for a deluxe room with a view if you can get one.
