“Value for Money According to Price Paid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We stayed from Monday till wednesday in the hotel and it being midweek it was not busy. The hotel is located next to the river Maas, a very scenic location and ideal for walkers. The walking path takes you to Namur which is about 7 km away. The hotel is easy reachable by taxi, one way 18 euro or with the bus line 4 which has a stop in front of the hotel (1.60 euro one way).
The rooms are comfortable and big enough, but do not include a fridge/minibar. The standard rooms include one fixed double bed and one double pull away bed.
Breakfast was included for us and was good on the Tuesday but far lower in quality on the Wednesday. The hotel predominently attracts business travellers and congresses so with it being so busy at breakfast they had run out of items and did not refill even after asking because they had run out.
The breakfast is continental offers a vast bread selection, Danish, cereals, eggs and bacon and cheese/ham, fruits and yoghurt. The big plus at breakfast is the fantastic coffee machine that serves everything from regular coffee to hot chocolate, capuccinos etc.
The hotel is quiet and ideal for a break if you wish to relax. It has spa facilities in form of an indoor/outdoor pool which was freezing (indoor) and you could not stay in it for longer than 10 minutes, a sauna and a salon. The salon is closed on Sunday and Monday, they do offer a great variety of treatments and prices are relatively cheap. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evening as Namur offers a wide variety of restaurants to dine out to. I would recommend you do this.
The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly. Certainly at reception they are very helpful.
Next to the hotel is a Carrefour, big supermarket in case you would need anything and an excellent chip shop (Belgian Frites) which is called Maxi Frites which is very good.
We enjoyed our stay there and came mainly to relax and walk which the hotel is ideal for. I agree it could do with refurbishment, but feel I could not complain about the price paid, it was value for money.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

HAmpton in namen Belgium was before Novotel. The hotl is lacated next to the river 'maas"
The rooms are good with nice bathroom , only no mini bar or fridge. The breakfast has a big choice. The swimmingpool is half inside and half outside. If its nice weather there are many sunbeds to rrelax on. Bar is not expensive! Good hotel next to Carefour supermarket. I

Room Tip: Book the rooms on booking.com cheap and including breakfast 75 euro,

“A good stop - handily placed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We have stayed in this hotel several times and found it to be very conveniently placed for an overnight stop either coming from or going to the channel ports. It has good parking, great inside/outside pool, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. On this trip we arrived early afternoon from Germany on a hot day, had a swim and went out for the evening. On return the concierge called out to me by name to give me a message which had been forwarded from my previous hotel in Germany. How he knew me after a brief check-in some hours earlier I just can't imagine. Full marks however.
On previous visits I had breakfast which was good but a bit pricey. The Carrefour supermarket next door provides a good cheaper alternative.

“OK for a stopover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

Found this hotel on Tripadvisor while looking for a stopover from Italy to UK. Its a 70's build building in need of a good refurb, but it is clean.
Good staff on recepion & there is a free internet station nearby. The room is very basic but clean, no AC so the rooms could be uncomfortable in a hot period. With the window open overnight you could hear a AC system stopping & starting all night.
Good indoor pool leading to an outdoor pool, & a good sitting area with chairs in the sun. There is a sauna but I didnt try it. Good if you have children.
Evening meal was Eur 18-20 for main course only, Eur 12 for breakfast, which is expensive.
Next door is a Carafour supermarket with a good basic cafe, open to 8pm Mon Fri, 9pm Sat, closed Sun. We had a nice 2 course evening meal with drinks for Eur 11 each. Breakfast was Eur 5.50 each.
In conclusion as a stopover it was fine, would I stop again possibly not.

Room Tip: get a room on the back of the hotel

“Very helpful staff, excellent breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2011

Arrived late at night. First impressions of hotel very good. Room clean and a good size with a pull-out sofa bed and a travel cot made up and ready. The cot though had a broken bar on the top (making it unstable) but a quick call to reception had a couple of apologetic and helpful staff straight up with another - ensuring we all got to bed quickly.

A great breakfast the next morning. Looked like some good facilities at the hotel - a pity we didn't pack the cossies!

Very happy with this hotel and the surrounding area looked amazing.
