“Great Time in Germany!”

We traded through RCI. We knew nothing about Germany and only that the location was about an hour away from Munich. This place is in a great location in Bavaria and near lots to see and do. We took the train to Munich for Oktoberfest (you could drive, but parking is difficult in Munich). We drove all around the countryside and saw a castle, great churches, cities, and more. I loved Germany. The staff at the resort is really great and spoke English. They made great recommendations of things to do (definately go to the intro session the first night). Anything we didn't know we were able to ask them and they helped us including with train information. We had massages on site and they were fantastic and a good bargin. The restraunt on site has an English menu and serves a pretty good selection of food and great beer. We were in a one bedroom place and it was definately big enough for the two of us (four adults might have been a little tight with one bathroom, but kids probably would have been fine). We had a great view of the Bavaria forest from our room. The grocery store could have been walked to, but not much else around nearby. A rental car is really needed to enjoy the area. I think there was some bus transporation available, but a car seemed much better. Would also recommend a GPS for the car, it was extremely helpful. Located in small town with not much around, but major towns/cities not too far of a drive. Intenet was available at reception area for 1 euro per 10 minutes, it was down one day when we were there and not that fast, but adquent enough for checking in with family.

“Lovely Holiday Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2009

We booked into this holiday place because it offered apartment living with a kitchen, rather than a hotel room (important every so often when you are travelling for some months). The studio room we had was very pleasant, with a good little kitchen, all that we needed in the main room, a good bathroom, and a lovely deck on which we could eat, sit and relax. We had a very pleasant dinner in the restaurant on the first night of our stay, but chose to home cater from then on. Our apartment proved to be an excellent place from which to explore Bavaria. Staff were very pleasant and multilingual. We had a wonderful time.

“Tucked away in pretty Bavaria”

We traded a time share week to stay at Mondi Holiday. We knew Mitterfels was out of the way, but researched the area prior to our trip and knew there was quite a lot to see and do by car: Regensberg, Passau, the Walhalla Temple, luge ride at Sankt Englmar and we took the day trip (bus/tour guide) to Prague organised by the staff at the resort. I would recommend a good map, and/or GPS. We made use of the public pool complex next door (2 euro per adult) and our daughter enjoyed the playground on the property. There is a restaurant, however we chose to self-cater. Nearby is a good sized supermarket (closed on Sundays). The surrounding countryside is beautiful with many cute towns, and the region is known for it's artistic glass. The rooms are spacious, with a good kitchen and bathroom. The decor is dated but fts the location. For the most part the staff were friendly and helpful.

“exteremely rude staff”

We checked into Mondi Holiday Mitterfels on 31st night of May 2008.

The staff at the reception were extremely rude and curt. The resort is a bit off and between the forests.

Our apartment for 4 people were however comfortable. We stayed for 7 nights and saw all nearby places. However we would not recommend Mitterfels to anybody, since it is too off the way and secondly the staff is EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL AND RUDE. When you are staying in a middle of nowhere the least the staff can be is - helpful.

We would DEFINITELY not go back to this resort again or recommend it to anybody.

There are some lovely hotels in Straubing which we would recommend people to stay in if they are planning to visit bavaria.

“Great area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2007

I really enjoyed my stay at this resort. The area is great, lots of outdoor things to do. The restuarant located onsite had great food and great staff. The 1-bdr condo we had was clean, had a nice little kitchen and patio that overlooked the grounds. The area was quite and
pleasant. Its about a 15 minute walk to the city center which was well kept and clean. The area is kind of isolated so you need to be creative on things to do. If your looking for relaxation then this
is the place for you. If your looking for lots of activity and a great nightlife than you should look elsewhere.

  • Liked — kitchen with fridge
  • Disliked — older style decor
