We needed somewhere to stay for 3 nights to allow a day in Paris, one day at Parc Asterix, and then off to the Bayeux Tapestry the following day. Arrived at about 8:00pm to find that Orry is a small town, and the hotel is next to the railway station. The rooms were clean and presentable (we had 3 for our family of 6) with beds varying in size. The breakfast was a typical French self service, staff friendly etc.
For Paris, trains run regularly into Gard du Nord, and the fast ones take less than 20 minutes - so much better than trying to get into the city by car.
However, the real highlight was the restaurant/bar next door. Our first impresson was that this was wholly unsuitable for our young family, but as there was nowhere else to go, we went in on our first night, just because we were hungry.
Well , what a find! The restaurant is owned by the chef - he's been there 2 years - and he is extremely talented when it comes to food.
All dishes are prepared according to what's in season, and he was very very accomodating for the children, preparing them meals that weren't on the menu with ease.
If you stay at the Nonette and eat next door (doesn't seem to have a name) please, please don't order steak and chips - it's a travesty that such a fantastic chef has to prepare this sort of food - stick to what he has on the menu for the day - you will love it.
We went back 3 evenings running (whch we would never normally do as we like variety), and the menu changed each day.
I really can't recommend the food enough, no matter what it looks like from outside - you have to go!
