“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2010

I stayed at the hotel while visiting friends in Sant Cugat. They lived 2 blocks from the hotel so that was my main reason for staying there. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. Everything was new and in good working order. The front desk staff was friendly and very competent. Breakfast was included in my room price and it was very good. The hotel is located down a small hill from the main shopping street of Sant Cugat but about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the train station. I definitely recommend the hotel.

“Very nice Modernist Hotel - with great ammenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2009

Usually, I book traditional properties, but my conference team chose the modernist San Cugat Hotel, and it was a good selection.

The hotel is large enough to offer full services such a restauarant, bar, and room service, and a gargage for car-parking -- but the hotel is not too large to feel crowded or noisy at any time. And: it is the extra attention to detail and ammenities that make this hotel special. Not only does the bathroom have nice ammenities (e.g., truthbrush and paste, bath tissues), each color-coded, wrapped in orange cellophane; but the supplies in the room's desk (pen, pencil, notebads, maps, and more) were also color-coded, each item wrapped in orange cellophane. Nice, big desk too -- very functional for spreadiing out books, and written materials.

Air conditioning in individidual rooms worked great -- always appreciated ! The breakfast buffet was bountiful--and orange juice was wonderful, as throughout most of Spain.

PLUS; Sant Cugat Hotel has a great little library, with volumes displayed, appealing to all ages (including children) -- and the books were visible through the glassed in area of the space. This Library is a *very nice addition to a hotel* -- much appreciated !

If one is taking the train to the Catalan Museum In Barcelona from San Cugat then, plan 1 1/2 hours each way, including tain + walking time. The destination is worth the journey - it is good but plan accordingly.

Overall, if you have business or visiting in this section outside of Barcelona, San Cugat is a terrific hotel in which to stay -- and the town also has an early Monastery, well worth the visit !

“Extremely good hotel if going this way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2008

This hotel is a real gem. If it had been in BCN, people would rave about it -- and prices be x2-3.
Very big and modern rooms - book a suite or try to get upgraded - and excellent service/staff including a small but comfortable bar.
The only thing missing is a pool.
a tip:
Popular hotel, if you can't get a room through their web site, try calling them directly or use Expedia. Sometimes I've gotten room this wa, in spite of the hotel site saying it's full.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2008

We stayed here for just one night in February and found the hotel to be fantastic value for money at £54 with lastminute. The hotel is in a busy little suburb with easy access to a local shopping area with plenty of Restaurants and Bars. The hotel is very well presented and has a clean professional feel to it with white-suited reception staff who are very poilte and helpful. The rooms are large, spacious and incredibly clean, feeling brand new despite being about four years old now. The evening menu is a bit pricey, although it did look pretty fancy, but we did think breakfast was pretty good value at €11 per adult and €4 for kids and excellent standards.
On site parking (chargeable) finishes off a pretty good package. Would recommend without reservation.

“Modern and comfortable hotel but can be noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2007

Hotel is a few steps away from the Centre of the small and quiet suburban town of Sant Cugat just 10 minutes away from the centre of Barcelona by car or 30 mins if you use the cheap and conveneient provincial light rail network (also known as the FGC) which runs fabout every 15 mins from early morning till midnight in both directions. The hotel is very sleek and modern 4 to 3 star hotel. Check in was swift, but no bell serivce so you need to move your own luggage (no big deal). Rooms are clean and comfortable with a modern, sleek and minimalist design and they are centrally aircondtioned. however they can be a bit small and closet space is limited. My only complaint is that the lobby music and lobby noises can be heard very well in the rooms and even though music is nice and loungey it is does play till midnight and that was very uncomfortable. Also street noises can be heard (at one point there was a concert in the monastery across the street that went on till 3 AM and we were unable to sleep because of the noise). Also walls are thin and at one point we were able to hear the snoring from the room next door! Its worth noting how helpful the night shift fornt desk staff were despite their limited english when my trvael partner got seriously sick and had to be rushed to the hospital. They called the paramedics and followed up with us upon our return from the hospital he next day. The hotel staff are generally very helpful although for guests who dont speak spanish like myself there were times when communicating with them in English got a bit tricky. The hotel has free wirless internet access and a reading area in the lobby with internet connected PC's as well. The hotel resturant offers 3 meals aday and their food is EXCELLENT, quite possibly the best food you can get in St. Cugat ! I suspect they change their menus regualrly but while i was there the Chicken maincourse and Salmon maincourse were the best I ever had anywhere! Finally its worth noting that the hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from the FGC station so its not exactly across the street. All in all, very nice hotel desite its very few downsides.

  • Liked — sleek design. comfort, staff
  • Disliked — noise
