Usually, I book traditional properties, but my conference team chose the modernist San Cugat Hotel, and it was a good selection.
The hotel is large enough to offer full services such a restauarant, bar, and room service, and a gargage for car-parking -- but the hotel is not too large to feel crowded or noisy at any time. And: it is the extra attention to detail and ammenities that make this hotel special. Not only does the bathroom have nice ammenities (e.g., truthbrush and paste, bath tissues), each color-coded, wrapped in orange cellophane; but the supplies in the room's desk (pen, pencil, notebads, maps, and more) were also color-coded, each item wrapped in orange cellophane. Nice, big desk too -- very functional for spreadiing out books, and written materials.
Air conditioning in individidual rooms worked great -- always appreciated ! The breakfast buffet was bountiful--and orange juice was wonderful, as throughout most of Spain.
PLUS; Sant Cugat Hotel has a great little library, with volumes displayed, appealing to all ages (including children) -- and the books were visible through the glassed in area of the space. This Library is a *very nice addition to a hotel* -- much appreciated !
If one is taking the train to the Catalan Museum In Barcelona from San Cugat then, plan 1 1/2 hours each way, including tain + walking time. The destination is worth the journey - it is good but plan accordingly.
Overall, if you have business or visiting in this section outside of Barcelona, San Cugat is a terrific hotel in which to stay -- and the town also has an early Monastery, well worth the visit !
