My husband and I only had one regret about the Hotel Zuhayra which was the fact that we only stayed one night. The hotel is situated in the centre of the beautiful, small village of Zuheros which I highly recommend. We had spent the previous night in Cordoba and prior to that, two nights in Ronda (I will review the hotels seperately but all were excellent and chosen from other reviews on Trip Advisor). I hadn't found many reviews on the Hotel Zuhayra but as there are only two in or near Zuheros (The other is located on the outskirts of the village) we chose Zuhayra as we wanted to be right in the village.
I recevied prompt response to my email inquiries and they did not ask for a credit card. Parking is on the street anywhere near the hotel. We were there at a fairly quiet time so for us this was not a problem. Check in was easy and as I wanted to practice my Spanish can't say exactly how much English the front desk person spoke. I will say though he was exceptionally polite, friendly and patient with me as I stumbled along in my best Spanish!. He took the time to show us the book they keep at the front desk. This shows all the activities and things to do in the area. It also has a section that describes the walks and hikes that can be taken right from the hotel. It describes the type of terrain and level of difficulty as well as the distance. Zuheros is great for anyone wanting to spend a couple of days biking or walking. The Via Verde is within walking distance and offers a fabulous trail for either running, walking of biking. Zuheros as I mentioned is a very small, white village. If you are looking to be entertained with energetic nightlife, this may not be for you. If you want to relax, walk or use it as a base to explore then it's perfect. There are about three bars/restaurants in town and the hotel offers a really nice outside patio area for dinner. Sadly, with only one night we chose to ate at one of bars/restuarants that was recommended by a local earlier that day. We had a fabulous experience and again I will review that place seperatley. The menu at the hotel though looked great and we wished we had booked for two nights so we could have tried thier food. We found all the locals so friendly although my Spanish is good enough for us to get by so this probably help.
The room at the hotel had a spectacular view over the mountains and olive trees. It was exceptionally clean and the air conditioning worked well. We had two single beds although I am sure we could have got a double if I had thought to ask for it. I didn't and for one night we didn't care about two beds. There is free wifi in the room (never used it so can't comment on it's speed) as well as a small modern television (again we never watched it). Breakfast was included and although basic was more than adequate, served buffet style (coffee, juice, fruit, cheese and meat, buns or toast, cereal). Check out was a breeze and as mentioned, we wished we had had more time. Would highly recommend!!!
