“Good to be back”

We returned after seven years to find things largely unchanged: . if we return in another twenty I doubt we would notice much diiference: the same genuine, happy staff from the beaming, proud owner and his delightful wife, from the charming Karine who lent me some cigarettes and the beautiful elfin-like waitress who glides from bar to dining room.
The setting is magical and the atmosphere authentic . The food is classical French with some concessions to modernity. The dining room matches the food and both the menu and the room would sit well in the 19th century. The food while not as stratospherically brilliant as on our first visit, is still excellent.

.An excellent liist with an admirable concentration on regional wines but prices are steep.

The room prices are reasoanble but the cheaper rooms are , whilst charming, are a lttle frayed.

I had an excellent massage in the new spa wing but more thought needs to go into making this a better area..

One could find a few other faults but that would give the wrong impression. This is a real find of s place, a hotel full of character, above all a happy hotel that makes you smile and relax. How much more can one expect from a hotel?

“Fabulous”

We arrived in the morning and although our room wasn't ready we were made to feel very welcome and given coffee and drinks before we went off out again. The evening receptionist showed us to our room which was a superior double - very large and spacious with a balcony. This hotel was perfect. The location was fantastic, with the village of Floure a turn off from the main road 15 minutes drive from Carcassonne, 40 minutes from Narbonne, 5 minutes from Trebes. It has lovely gardens, a great outdoor pool (although not heated so a bit of a shock when first getting in). We had dinner in the hotel once which was lovely. The best part of the hotel was the evening receptionist, she was so helpful, remembered the smallest details and nothing was too much trouble for her. We also booked a massage which was organised very quickly - they have a spa area but do not seem to have spa staff on site but it took them less than an hour to confirm a time for later the same day. An absolutely fabulous four days, my partner and I felt we'd been there a week we felt so relaxed and comfortable. Breakfast was quite expensive and the hotel bar closed at midnight, even for guests, those were the only downsides.

“Excellent attentive friendly service in a peaceful, beautiful Chateau”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

Ideally located for exploring Carcassonne and the surrounding areas but spare plenty of time to enjoy the peaceful setting and service in this Chateau including outdoor pool and patio. Building is beautiful and rooms are spacious. Owners are frequently present to ensure an exceptional and friendly high level of service and for all the staff nothing is too much trouble. Cuisine is of a high standard with fixed menus offering good value. Wine list offers good choice including excelent local wines at reasonable pricesA definite hotel to return to.

“utterly charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

We stayed here for just one night and I was very sorry to leave. I was impressed by the warm and friendly response to my initial call, and although this is rather a grand hotel the service was personal and charming - some smart French hotels can seem a bit corporate. The Chateau de Floure is peaceful and secluded, living up to its Relais de Silence status. We had a beautiful suite in a wing of the chateau - I think the rooms in the main building are slightly smarter but we all loved the large apartment which combined more rustic touches, such as tiled floors, with elegant fabrics and furnishings. It comprised two good sized bedrooms (one for our two children) and two separate sitting areas as well as two bathrooms! We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the chateau's elegant formal dining room - there are two or three menus to choose from as well as the more expensive carte - and then had coffee on the terrace outside. The breakfast buffet was superb - it included a range of cooked options - scrambled eggs, bacon, little sausages, two kinds of pancakes - as well as the usual pastries, ham, cheese, yoghurt ... The gardens are lovely - formal but slightly (and appealingly) unkempt - and there is a ping pong table as well as a swimming pool.

“Great food, friendly and attentive staff and beautiful grounds”

My wife and I stayed at the Chateau de Floure for two nights in August of this year. Only ten minutes drive from Carcassonne and situated in a sleepy village the Chateau was ideally placed to allow us to explore the region. The staff were very friendly, there is a good sized pool with views of the hills and we ate outside on the patio both evenings watching the birds come into roost in the many trees in the garden.
We would definitely return to this hotel.
