Arrived at the hotel around 6.30 after a full day sight seeing. We'd booked for one night at de Floure which, as it turned out, was enough. Our room (10) was large with a good sized bathroom, adequate towels and toiletries. Room had electronic shutters which we like as, for us, they assist getting a good night's sleep. The "beautiful" gardens were dried up and all but dead. There are watering systems these days guys. We did not use either swimming pool.
Service at dinner was hit and miss with the emphasis being more on the miss. We had to ask three times for water and the cutlery and glasses were dirty. I got the distinct impression that the staff felt they were doing us, paying customers, a favour by deigning to serve us. Not good enough guys at your prices! The food was average and nothing to write home about. In fact, my dessert - the "macaroon" was awful, almost stale in taste and not at all crisp like a macaroon should be.
Decided not to partake in the breakfast at 18 euros per person. This is London hotel prices and not what I expect from a country hotel.
Overall, we did not enjoy our stay at Chateau de Floure - something just did not sit comfortably with us. I felt they wanted our money but wanted to do as little as possible for it. We will not be returning.
