only just discovered tripadvisor which is why this review is some time after stay. It was recommended in a french hotel guide and we needed somewhere to stay on our way south. It was a take it or leave it attitude at the check in & no possibility of food as a wedding had been booked in. The room was dark and dingy with fusty blankets & no bath or shower and a 1970's tiled 'lav'. If we plugged any electrical item in it fused the room. The room overlooked the village square - and a carpark where we watched, terrified as a large group noisy youths on mopeds drove round & round our new car & later hoards of drunken wedding guests leant against it gossiping and peered in all round it was an expensive car not seen often in france. We didn't get a wink of sleep. Awful. Desolate area, think east anglia, with not much choice of accommodation

“Worth a Night's Stay to see the Countryside”

The inn was charming and the rooms were clean and spacious. The furniture, fixtures and linens were rather old. Our room had a large, private bath with a bathtub. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant but passed through the kitchen one evening and the meal being prepared looked and smelled great. The staff were very nice and none of them seemed to speak much English (my French is worse) - but we were able to communicate reasonably well enough. The inn is located in a very small village in the middle of the Sologne area of fields and forest. Close to many Chateau and the cities of Gien and Orleans. If you want to see real rural France, it's a good place to spend a night or two.
