“A hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

My husband and I only stayed here for one night on our way back to the UK from our camping holiday. It was conveniently located for the last leg of our jorney.
The hotel has lovely maissonnette-style accommodation - with a bathroom and double bedroom upstairs, and a living room and kitchen downstairs.
The room was comfortable and clean. Nothing fantastic, but good-value for money.

The real delight of this hotel was its restaurant - which we both believe should have at least 1 Michelin star. We had the best dinner - we each ordered one of the tasting menues, and after the 6-7 courses we were completely convinced that we had stumbled across one of France's best restaurants! It compared with the Waterside Inn in Bray and that is a 3-star restaurant.
And at only 55 euros, the Gastronomique menu is an absolute must.

Will definitely stay there again!!

“Perfect for a stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

I've stayed here two nights to split the journey from home to the south of France. Perfect place for it. Decent cottages for 2 adults and 2 children for a fair price. Heated pool. Two restaurants, one buffet style, so again very good with small children. I'll keep this hotel in mind for next year. Close to Orleans and Loire castles, so you can make a day trip too.

“Overpriced room for what you get”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

On arrival the receptionist was very efficient, she spoke in French but we didn't give her the opportunity to let her know we were English. We initially booked through Octopustravel a few hours earlier and got a double room for £77.

The room is quite disappointing, especially if you were one of the guests that paid the full rate of 140 euros. There was a tv, trouser press, aircon and minibar. The view was very nice as it overlooked a lake and the golf course.

We were both disappointed at the lack of tea making facilities, if we had paid the full price for this room we would have been very unhappy. Paying £77 for the room, still felt over-priced for the quality of decor and lack of facilities.

We looked at the restaurant menu but decided against it as the set menu started at 45 euros per person which seemed quite a lot for a late evening meal.

The location was ideal for us as we were passing through and needed a one night stop off. They have an outdoor pool that is heated and easy to access if you don't fancy a round of golf.

“Take food with you.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2009

Arrived 19:30. Asked for dinner booking. Told that Dining Room was fully booked (there were only about a dozen cars in the carpark !!!!!). Asked for Room Service. A plain Croque Monsieur with a small cake (no drinks) was 15.00Euros.!!!
Rooms small and functional.
Reception staff sullen.
Breakfast good.

“What a shambles!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2008

We stayed at this hotel on our way back from South-West France. Fortunately we were only staying for one night. We arrived at the hotel about 8pm - if we had arrived earlier and in daylight we would have turned around and looked for somewhere else to stay! We parked at what we thought was the entrance to find it locked, we then had to trek across to reception (which is not signed) through what can only be described as a building site. Staff at reception were unhelpful and took ages to get our keys and go through the check-in process. We then drove round to our cottage. I was filled with dread when I saw the state of the place - paint was peeling off the doors and it looked generally unkempt. Inside was little better. I don't know when it was last given a really good clean - bed linen and towels were clean but there were rather too many cobwebs. The whole place was generally unkempt.

Downstairs there was a very large room with a sofa-bed, dining table and eight chairs and a television. The only place you could sit and watch TV was on the sofa-bed which was not big enough for four people. My son switched on the cooker in the kitchenette and promptly tripped the fuses in the whole house. The bathroom was upstairs but there was no wc in the bathroom so if you wanted to go during the night you had to go down a flight of fairly steep stairs. The loo was downstairs but there was no sink. A bizarre arrangement in my opinion. Several of the bedside lights did not work and there were at least three power point which had become detached from the wall.

From looking in the cupboards in our cottage it was obvious that it also doubled as a conference or training room. There was an overhead projector in one of the "wardrobes".

We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant (also seems to be the clubhouse) which was okay - we had better meals in very ordinary places in the South for considerably less money. The staff were at times quite attentive but at other times they managed to ignore you very successfully. We asked the waiter a question about the wine we ordered - it was obvious that he knew nothing about wine.

We had a fairly disturbed night as there was a wedding at the hotel which got pretty loud at about midnight. They were still having a karaoke contest at 5am!!

In the morning we had breakfast in the main hotel building - the buffet was pretty awful. There were hard crusty rolls or squashed croissants, a poor choice of cereals and again the staff were unhelpful.

I really do not understand how this place gets a three turret rating in Michelin.

In my opinion they should close the place down, completely renovate it and start again. We will never stay there again - I think I might prefer to sleep in the car.

We completed the feedback form and listed most of the above - we have had no feedback from the hotel.
