“Disappointing/Decepcionante”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

Before I start, let me describe my personal situation and expectations, in order for you to better understand my point of view when writing this review. We are young couple looking to spend the weekend in the area sightseeing, and also relaxing at the hotel.
Imon is a very small, quiet town near Sigüenza. There is not a thing to do in the town other than to relax at the hotel facilities and to travel by car to nearby towns for sightseeing. The location of the hotel is perfect in terms of closeness to nearby towns (Atienza, Sigënza, Pelegrina, etc) and the town being small and quiet makes it perfect for relaxing.
Now let me describe the hotel. In terms of cleanliness, the hotel is perfect. General cleanliness of facilities is adequate, and the room was cleaned and tidied each day. No complaints.
The room, though smaller than expected, was fine. Comfortable bed and an acceptable bathroom.
The breakfast, included in our rate, was ok. I only would say that the ham provided with the breakfast isn't of great quality, but perfectly edible. Much to the management's disappointment, we did not dine at the hotel, despite their efforts, so in that department I cannot judge.
I would like to highlight the massagist (though we didn't get her name!) the massage was great and she obviously knows her stuff. We both thoroughly enjoyed the massage and recommend it.
So why the poor review?
Well, to start with, the management does not seem to know the area very well. There is a beautiful walk in the area which I thoroughly recommend, 'Barranco del Rio Dulce', which starts in the town of Pelegrina, however the manager at the hotel was sending us to the wrong place. Thankfully we asked in town for new directions and they corrected the mistake. No big deal but it would have meant another 10/15kms on road and led to some confusion.
Secondly, and most importantly, we had booked a 'Relax Weekend' at the hotel, which is how the hotel sells it. Last I checked, Sunday is part of the weekend. Now, I understand having to vacate the room at 12:00 in order to prepare the room for future guests. No problem there, but we had planned on using the pool on Sunday afternoon before making our way back to the city. It's August, in Spain, and it very hot! The management was not at all happy with our decision and after some snide remarks said that our staying on the facilities was dependent on the arrival of new guests as they didn't want the pool to get busy. I'm sorry, but not acceptable. We are frequent weekend travelers and we have not encountered this sort of reaction anywhere. Due to the hotel's reaction we only stayed another hour or so at the pool, during which time, nobody new arrived. Just a couple of small details I would like to add. At the pool there were a few other guests, which were asked by the manager whether they wanted a drink, whilst we were not. So I asked myself. When he came back with beers and cokes for everyone, the cokes came with no ice. At my partner's petition of whether she could get some ice, the manager sort of looked at her as if she were mad and said 'Ice'? (as if he'd never heard of anyone having ice in their warm cokes before). He subsequently pointed us to the suite (next to the pool) and said there was a fridge in there if we wanted to cool the coke. Simply bizarre. In the end, no ice.
Overall, I do not recommend staying at the hotel, due to the availability of other places nearby of similar quality and services
