“Beautiful rooms, bad service and host”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

We decided to go with the offer on the website: Spa, massage, dinner and two nights sleep. Unfortunately, there is no real Spa, we didn't get a massage and dinner was not that much of a success. Far more important, the host was not performing like he should: he did not ask us if we wanted to have a drink by the pool (and we couldn't find him during day time to ask for drinks) though it was very hot and the town is deserted so there's hardly any alternative to get drinks. He didn't speak a word of English so we couldn't comunicate. For example, we both ordered other dishes than were being served. Though he tried to be friendly and tried to be a nice person, it was clear he lacked tourism experience.

Furthermore he showed he was not amused we decided to go out and eat in siguenza the second night. When we confronted the host with the fact we didn't get a massage and that the offer included a massage, he spoke quick Spanish we couldn't understand. Still we had to pay the full amount.

Still, we had a good time. The rooms are beautiful and lovely, the lounge and gardens and pool are pretty, but one shouldn't advertise being a Spa and not offering anything of the kind. But it's a very pretty place.

“Authentic Spanish hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

One should try each room of this wonderful place listed as a protected historic building.
We stayed in the top room obliging us to climb several staircases passing through wonderfully decorated areas. It was most worthwhile. The lounge with view in 20 meters deep original well -covered by safety glass - would fit in any top segment international hotel.
The menu served for dinner can be described as no nonsense cooking just using the best products of the season.

Room Tip: Ask for the top room if you are fit. Windows at both side of the room created a nice airflow in summ...

I can only recommend this place.
- Great service.
- The room where we were hosted was spacious and very well decorated.
- Delicious tasty spanish traditional food
- Nice villages all around, specially "Santamera"
As a summary, if you want to relax for a few days, this is a great choice to do so.

“Disappointing/Decepcionante”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

Before I start, let me describe my personal situation and expectations, in order for you to better understand my point of view when writing this review. We are young couple looking to spend the weekend in the area sightseeing, and also relaxing at the hotel.
Imon is a very small, quiet town near Sigüenza. There is not a thing to do in the town other than to relax at the hotel facilities and to travel by car to nearby towns for sightseeing. The location of the hotel is perfect in terms of closeness to nearby towns (Atienza, Sigënza, Pelegrina, etc) and the town being small and quiet makes it perfect for relaxing.
Now let me describe the hotel. In terms of cleanliness, the hotel is perfect. General cleanliness of facilities is adequate, and the room was cleaned and tidied each day. No complaints.
The room, though smaller than expected, was fine. Comfortable bed and an acceptable bathroom.
The breakfast, included in our rate, was ok. I only would say that the ham provided with the breakfast isn't of great quality, but perfectly edible. Much to the management's disappointment, we did not dine at the hotel, despite their efforts, so in that department I cannot judge.
I would like to highlight the massagist (though we didn't get her name!) the massage was great and she obviously knows her stuff. We both thoroughly enjoyed the massage and recommend it.
So why the poor review?
Well, to start with, the management does not seem to know the area very well. There is a beautiful walk in the area which I thoroughly recommend, 'Barranco del Rio Dulce', which starts in the town of Pelegrina, however the manager at the hotel was sending us to the wrong place. Thankfully we asked in town for new directions and they corrected the mistake. No big deal but it would have meant another 10/15kms on road and led to some confusion.
Secondly, and most importantly, we had booked a 'Relax Weekend' at the hotel, which is how the hotel sells it. Last I checked, Sunday is part of the weekend. Now, I understand having to vacate the room at 12:00 in order to prepare the room for future guests. No problem there, but we had planned on using the pool on Sunday afternoon before making our way back to the city. It's August, in Spain, and it very hot! The management was not at all happy with our decision and after some snide remarks said that our staying on the facilities was dependent on the arrival of new guests as they didn't want the pool to get busy. I'm sorry, but not acceptable. We are frequent weekend travelers and we have not encountered this sort of reaction anywhere. Due to the hotel's reaction we only stayed another hour or so at the pool, during which time, nobody new arrived. Just a couple of small details I would like to add. At the pool there were a few other guests, which were asked by the manager whether they wanted a drink, whilst we were not. So I asked myself. When he came back with beers and cokes for everyone, the cokes came with no ice. At my partner's petition of whether she could get some ice, the manager sort of looked at her as if she were mad and said 'Ice'? (as if he'd never heard of anyone having ice in their warm cokes before). He subsequently pointed us to the suite (next to the pool) and said there was a fridge in there if we wanted to cool the coke. Simply bizarre. In the end, no ice.
Overall, I do not recommend staying at the hotel, due to the availability of other places nearby of similar quality and services
